Non Negative Least Squares Regression with nnls
Hello R experts, I have two questions related to the nnls library (http://www.inside-r.org/packages/cran/nnls), and more broadly to linear regression with positive coefficients. Sample code is below the Qs. Q1: Regular regression (with lm) gives me the significance of each variable. How do I get variable significance with nnls? If there's no ready function, any easy way to manually derive

Linear Models with positive coefficients?
Hi, is it possible in one of the libraries on linear methods to constrain the coefficients to be positive? Thanks Chris -- Christoph M. new package 'nnls'
A new package 'nnls' is now available on CRAN. The package provides an R interface to the Lawson-Hanson NNLS algorithm for non-negative least squares that solves the least squares problem A x = b with the constraint x >= 0. The Lawson-Hanson NNLS algorithm was published in Lawson CL, Hanson RJ (1974). Solving Least Squares Problems. Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Lawson CL,

new package 'bvls', update of 'nnls'
A new package 'bvls' is available on CRAN. The package provides an R interface to the Stark-Parker algorithm for bounded-variable least squares (BVLS) that solves A x = b with the constraint l <= x <= u under least squares criteria, where l,x,u \in R^n, b \in R^m and A is an m \times n matrix. The Stark-Parker BVLS algorithm was published in Stark PB, Parker RL (1995).

Multiple test of proportion in r
Dear all I'm currently facing the following situation. We have run a marketing campaign providing to some members one of two type of coupones. In addition to this, some of these members were already touched in the short past by another campaign. So I have the following dataset, where: -mixpre3M= is a flag variable telling us if the customer had already purchased somethign in the past

Logistic regression with coef>0
Hi, recently I saw but did not pay too much attention to a question that concerned regression with positive coefficients. In Splus, thereis the nnls() function that can be used if I am not wrong, but what about R ? Now I have the same problem: doing a logistic regression under constraint that coefs are non negative. What can I do with R? is there a (weighted) nnls() counterpart available? Thanks

loopback network device
Hi all, It's possible to create an alias of a device? Something like a device loN that all it's traffic is send to ethN, so ethN and loN are equivalent. It's for a bridged setup, i'm not trying to setup another IP on a device. Thanks! Jordi -- ...................................................................... __ / / Jordi Prats C E / S / C A

non-negative least-squares
Hi all, I am trying to do an inversion of electromagnetic data with non-negative least squares method (Tikhonov regularisation) and have got it programmed in S-Plus. However I am trying to move all my scripts from S-Plus to R. Is there an equivalent to nnls.fit in R? I think this can be done with pcls? Right? S-Plus script: A, L and data are matrices, lambda is a vector of possible lambda

ext3 file system becoming read only
Hi In our office environment few servers mostly database servers and yesterday it happened for one application server(first time) the partion is getting "read only". I was checking the archives, found may be similar kind of issues in the 2007-July archives. But how it has been solved if someone describes me that will be really helpful. In our case, just at the problem started found

OCF2 and LVM
Does anybody knows if is there a certified procedure in to backup a RAC DB 10.2.0.3 based on OCFS2 , via split mirror or snaphots technology ? Using Linux LVM and OCFS2, does anybody knows if is possible to dinamically extend an OCFS filesystem, once the underlying LVM Volume has been extended ? Thanks in advance Riccardo Paganini

Non-negativity constraints for logistic regression
Dear R users, I am currently attempting to fit logistic regression models in R, where the slopes should be restricted to positive values. Although I am aware of the package nnls (which does the trick for linear regression models), I did not find any solution for logistic regression. If there is any package available for this purpose, I would be interested to know them. Alternatively, I realize

let's see what the app store says
"multimarkdown composer" has been out for 4 weeks now, so let's mosey on over to the app store to see what it says... "composer" is #184 in productivity apps, a bit disappointing, considering that it was in the top-20 when it first came out... it's gained only 5 reviews over the 18 it had right off the bat. perhaps even more surprising, to some, is that

How to stop Kaplan-Meier curve at a time point
Hello R users I have a question with Kaplan-Meier Curve with respect to my research. We have done a retrospective study on fillings in the tooth and their survival in relation to the many influencing factors. We had a long follow-up time (upto 8yrs for some variables). However, we decided to stop the analysis at the 6year follow up time, so that we can have uniform follow-up time for all the

Re: iPad and WINE
alabama_tuck71 wrote: > Dammit :( It would have a great work distraction...thank you, though! Second, the iPad doesn't have an x86 CPU in it. It has an ARM CPU in it. Wine barely even supports ARM natively. It certainly doesn't support running x86 programs--like World of Warcraft--on ARM hardware. Long story short: there is no way to run the Windows version of WoW on an iPad

Which package/function for solving weighted linear least squares with inequality and equality constraints?
Dear All, Which package/function could i use to solve following linear least square problem? A over determined system of linear equations is given. The nnls-function may would be a possibility BUT: The solving is constrained with a inequality that all unknowns are >= 0 and a equality that the sum of all unknowns is 1 The influence of the equations according to the solving process is

Regressions with monotonicity constraints
This seems to be a recurrent topic, but I don't remember hearing a definitive answer. I also apologies for cross-posting. Say I have a numerical response variable and a bunch of multi-level factors I want to use for modeling. I don't expect factor interaction to be important so there will be no interactions in the model. All this would be a perfect job for ANOVA except for one additional
