Hello,
I''m going to be helping a friend setup Shorewall in place of his Cisco
router on his home network. Shorewall will be acting as the router/firewall
gateway for internet access for his home LAN. His connection to the ISP is
via PPPOE. Nothing unfamiliar here to me. It will be a standard 2 interface
setup.
My curiosity was peaked when he said that he is going to be installing

How to spec a (Trollop-based) binary’s internal state?
I?m trying to spec a ?binary?, and as previously discussed on this list,
I?m trying to do it ?from outside? ? i.e., by calling it with Kernel#`
and observing the (side-)effects.
Unfortunately, this doesn?t really let me spec expectations about its
internals. Let?s assume I have a -d flag and I parse it with Trollop to
set Conf.debug:
opts = Trollop::options do
opt :debug, ''Print debug

Troubles with using gems in Rails
Hi!
I''m observing some problems using gem inside Rails. My understanding is
that after following sequence in irb:
$ irb
irb(main):001:0> require ''rubygems''
=> true
irb(main):002:0> require ''active_record''
=> true
irb(main):003:0> gem ''acts_as_taggable''
=> true
I should have access to acts_as_tagable mixins, like:

Hosmer- Lemeshow test
Dear R - help,
I am working on the Credit scorecard model. I am using the Logistic regression to arrive at the regression coefficients model.
I want to use the Hosmer - Lemeshow test .
In order to understand the use of R - language, I had referred the following URL
http://www.stat.sc.edu/~hitchcock/diseaseoutbreakRexample704.txt
The related data 'diseaseoutbreak' is available

Hosmer-Lemeshow 'goodness of fit'
I'm trying to do a Hosmer-Lemeshow 'goodness of fit' test on my logistic
regression model.
I found some code here:
http://sas-and-r.blogspot.com/2010/09/example-87-hosmer-and-lemeshow-goodness.html
The R code is above is a little complicated for me but I'm having trouble
with my answer:
Hosmer-Lemeshow: p=0.6163585
le Cessie and Houwelingen test (Design library): p=0.2843620

two kind of Hosmer and Lemeshow’s test
I know that there are two method to apply the Hosmer and Lemeshow?s. One of
them is calculated based on the fixed and pre-determined cut-off points of
the estimated probability of success. One of them is calculated based on
the percentiles of estimated probabilities.
In the previous post,i find that the Hosmer and Lemeshow?s test how to use

BIC and Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic for logistic regression
I haven't find any helpful thread. How can i calculate BIC and
Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic for a logistic regression model. I have used glm
for logistic fit.

rare ssl issue
I'am having a rare situation with ssl connections. I can connect to 993/995
but the connection never starts.
>From the client side i test with:
$ openssl s_client -connect example.com:993
CONNECTED(00000003)
and stays like that... waiting.
In the other side i see in dovecot logs:
Disconnected: Inactivity (no auth attempts): rip=x.x.x.x, lip=x.x.x.x, TLS

Rare Find
I have a 1945 Bottle of Vintage Port Specially Bottled for the President, Richard M. Nixon.
I have a picture, just don't know how to post it on this forum.
The label says Borges&Irmao and from Portugal.
Any idea what this is worth?

uniden uip 200 phones lockup but rare - anyo ne seen this
I have several too and I also see this problem on occasion. Like you say,
it is fairly rare and I can't pinpoint a cause or tell if it is a symptom of
something else.
I think I wrote to tech support about it but never heard anything. I'm
wondering how long they will continue to support the phone.

Rare problem with Indexes?
We've been running 1.1 rc3 now for about a month, and overall it's been
very fast and stable.
There is however an Index-related problem that keeps cropping up which
prevents a user from accessing their mailbox until their Indexes are
manually removed.
Somehow, an Index becomes problematic, and Dovecot hangs forever when
the mailbox is accessed. It manifests when a user logs in and

Rare problem using Samba and mounted directories
Hello,
I am a Samba user, and I have been using long time without any big
trouble.
Last week I was working with a friend, using Fedora and Samba 3. Excuse me,
I don't know exactly which Samba version.
After some problems, we shared a directory (for example, /data). This
works, fine. Then we created two new subdirectories:
/data/a
/data/b
Then we access to shared resource using smbclient,

drop rare factors
I have a data frame with some factor columns.
I want to drop the rows with rare factor values
(and remove the factor values from the factors).
E.g., frame$MyFactor takes values
A 1,000 times,
B 2,000 times,
C 30 times and
D 4 times.
I want to remove all rows which assume rare values (<1%), i.e., C and D.
i.e.,
frame <- frame[[! (frame$MyFactor %in% c("A","B"))]]
except

Odd Error message with rare events logit
I'm running a rare events logit model in R using the Zelig package and am
getting some of the oddest error messages that I can't figure out.
y = rnorm(100)
x = c(rep("0",1), rep("1",99))
d = data.frame(won=x, bid=y)

case.correct="prior", bias.correct=TRUE, robust=TRUE)

Rare error with concurrent users searching with fts-solr
Hi all,
If I start two o more connections with diferent users that make a
search text to solr I get this message many times:
Error: fts_solr: Query didn't return uid
If I repeat the test about 2000 times, with only one user concurrent,
with 60 diferent users, without concurrent, I get between 0.
If I repeat the test about 2000 times, with 2 users concurrent, I get
between 3 or 10 errors.
