plot.igraph
I am having trouble plotting one of my graphs (think graph theory graph with edges and vertices, not scatterplots or histograms). For some pairs of vertices, I want multiple edges to be visible in my graph. As an example of this, in my script below, I want two edges to be visible from vertex 1 and vertex 9 (among some others) yet when I plot it, only one edge is visible.

packages which call functions which run C code...
I am looking at the function ks.test in the stats package and trying to figure out why it gives a different result for a p-value than does the corresponding function in MATLAB. I am hoping for one of two responses: 1. You know about ks.tests and have a familiarity with both the R and MATLAB algorithms and can tell me why this should be happening. 2. You know where I can find the

What editors can I get R in Mac OS X to talk to?
All, Apologies if this was already answered... I couldn't find an answer that specifically addressed Mac OS instead of either windows or linux. I use "aquamacs emacs" as my text editor. It is essentially Xemacs with a GUI that looks closer to standard Mac GUIs, as far as I can tell. I installed the GUI-friendly Mac version of R. I can have R choose the aquamacs as the editor

calling an editor on MAC and Linux
I have written an R function that writes output to an external file using the sink function. I assume that `sink' is not operating system dependent. At the end of the function I have additional code that opens the newly created file using notepad on a Windows system. Obviously, this part of the code will not work on a Mac or Linux box. Since I do not have a machine with Linux or the Mac OS

Editor alternative
I'm using version 1.1.1 under Windows NT and Windows 2000. I'm unable to get any editor other than Notepad to work. (I don't have use for any of the Unix editors - vi or Emacs) but would like to use EditPadPro, which has some nifty features, including the ability to spawn Rgui from within it. (No syntax highlighting programmability yet, but maybe soon). Anyway, I have

Colour-coded Editor for R Code
Do any of you know any simple programming editors for R scripts which offer basic colour-coding and bracket-matching facilities? Dregging through scripts to find a missing comma or parentheses is something I'd rather do less of... Jon Minton [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Installing R and an editor on a USB drive
Hi, I have adviced my students to install R and an editor on a USB drive for working in the computer class. With R everything works fine following these instructions: http://personal.bgsu.edu/~mrizzo/Rmisc/usbR.htm. But several editors (e.g., Tinn-R and WinEdt) require administrator rights. I have found out that Emacs (Vincent Goulet's Emacs for Windows Modified

Script file editors for Windows - submit highlighted text?
Greetings, I use S+, Stata, SAS and R depending on the weather... The script file editors in S+, SAS and Stata all allow me to submit a portion of a developing script file to the running process. In R I have to use an external editor and either source the entire file or do lots of copy-and-pasting. Are there any editors out there which interface to R more closely and let me submit a section

opinions please: text editors and reporting/Sweave?
dear all - I currently use Tinn-R as my text editor to work with code that I submit to R, with some output dumped to text files, some images dumped to pdf. (system: Windows 2K and XP, R 2.4.1 and R 2.5). We are using R for overnight runs to create large output data files for GIS, but then I need simple output reports for analysis results for each separate data set. Thus, I create many reports of

Best R text editors?
Quick informal poll: what is everyone's favorite text editor for working with R? I'd like to hear from people who are using editors that have some level of direct R interface (e.g. Tinn-R, Komodo+SciViews). Thanks! --j -- Jonathan A. Most used R editors
Hi, I am a little lonely as R users in my group. So, I would like to know which editor is the most used in the R community. This post is some kind of survey. Personally, I use Emacs with ESS, It permits to : - open more than one R session - split the emacs editor as many part as you want. - use a lot of keybindings. ... I also tried Rkwards, Scilab (windows), JGR etc... but they are not

R-/Text-editor for Windows?
Tinn-R (http://www.sciviews.org/Tinn-R/) is one of the topmost suggestions when googling an R-(text-)editor for Windows. However, to me it appears dissappointing that Tinn-R does not handle utf-8 (mac-roman, or any other) encoded R-scripts or, in general, text files. Besides Emacs and the R built-in editor, could you recommend a good editor for Windows, even some commmercial for a small

Maybe that's because the M$ "solutions" are crap, and much better alternatives already exist. > If you want to view UNIX text files correctly on a W9x
