Problem with mutli-dimensional array
I want to make a multi-dimensional array. To be specific I want to make the
following array
results<-array(0,dim=c(2,2,64,7))
This is the code I have created but it gives no result due to the error
"subscript out of bound".
x<-rep(7,7) # Missingness in intervention
y<-rep(7,7) # Missingness in control

List of multidimensional arrays
Dear all,
I am trying to create a list, where each list element is a vector of
different length arrays that contain 2by2 matrices. To be more specific
there are 11 treatments that are compared with placebo (we have 11
comparisons) and each comparison is studied by a different number of trials
and each trial has a different number of missing participants in both arms.
The length of the list is

Problem with colors in contour plot
Dear R users,
I have a 51 by 51 matrix of p-values (named as pvalue_MA). I want to
present graphically this matrix in a plot (filled contour plot) where both
axes represent probabilities. I have also added a grid in this plot. I want
to highlight in white the cells of the grid that represent p-values smaller
than the (common) significance threshold, 0.05. The code from this plot is
colored in

A panel of contour plots through a iteration process
Dear all,
as you can see from the code I want to create *a panel of 11 contour
plots through
a iteration process*. I found a thread that address the issue of plotting
many contour.plots in the same device, but it does not address my problem!
I emphasize that the 11 contour plots must be appeared in the same device
through an iteration process and NOT individually!

Export data frame of high dimension to txt
I managed with success to export a data frame of 367 columns and 37 rows to a txt file, but unfortunately I couldn't manage the same with the transposed data frame. Specifically, it seems like the notebook cannot "read" correctly 367 columns, so it reads the first 145 columns and it folds down the rest of them and consequently it folds down the respective data.

contigency tables
Hello everybody,
Can anyone tell me how I could analyze data that are at a contigency table form? I already found function cfa in the cfa package but I still don't understand how I could use this function in order to elaborate a contigency table. Every answer is welcome!

reading contigency tables
Hi all,
I need some help using read.ftable to read a contingency table. My columns
are organized as follows:
order--family--species--location--number of individuals
I couldn't figure out how to change the data on my text file to be
imported into R; and after you do that, is it possible to convert the
table into a data frame? Any tips would be greatly appreciatted!
Thanks a lot,
Naiara.

Multiple tests on 2 way-ANOVA
Dear r-helpers,
I have a question about multiple testing.
Here an example that puzzles me:
All matrixes and contrast vectors are presented in treatment contrasts.
1. example:
library(multcomp)
n<-60; sigma<-20
# n = sample size per group
# sigma standard deviation of the residuals
cov1 <- matrix(c(3/4,-1/2,-1/2,-1/2,1,0,-1/2,0,1), nrow = 3, ncol=3, byrow=TRUE,

recursive matrix multiplication question
List serv subscribers,
I am wondering if there is an efficient means of doing recursive matrix
multiplication in R. My data resides in a 4 X 2541 matrix from which I need
to extract 2541 2X2 matrices based on each row. If I attempt something like
this:

multidimensional lists
In the process of moving a number of my scripts from MATLAB -> R, I've
discovered that there is no 'pure' equivalent of MATLAB's cell arrays,
which I use quite often. Basically, I create matrices (as a cell array)
where each element of the matrix is itself a matrix (e.g., 2x2 cell
array where each element of the array is another matrix). I pass these
cell arrays to various

horizontal direct product
II am translating some gauss code into R, and gauss has a matrix
product function called the horizontal direct product (*~), which is
some sort of variant on the Kronecker product.
For example if x is 2x2 and y is 2x2
the horizontal direct product, z, of x and y is defined (in the Gauss
manual) as:
row 1 = x11*y11 x11*y12 x12*y11 x12*y12
row 2 = x21*y21 x21*y22 x22*y21 x22*y22

Multiple plots in a single page and stripplot()
I want to make a 2x2 plot on a single page, using stripplot() and boxplot().
I tried the following two alternatives with mfrow() and layout(), but none
of them worked.
library(lattice)
par(mfrow=c(2,2))
boxplot(X1 ~ Y, data=tst1, horizontal=T, las=1)
boxplot(X2 ~ Y, data=tst1, horizontal=T, las=1)
stripplot(Y ~ X1, data=tst1)
stripplot(Y ~ X2, data=tst1)
par(mfrow=c(1,1))

kronecker sum
Dear All,
Could someone please suggest how to find the Kronecker sum of two 2x2
matrices,
i.e. given two matrices:
-A A
a -a
and
-B B
b -b
I need:
-A-B A B 0
a -a-B 0 B
b 0 -A-b A
0 b a -a-b
Many thanks,

Entering data into a multi-way array?
Hello: I am a novice R user, but I have been working my way through the
manuals / tutorials, ... I have R / Deducer up and running, and know the
basics.
I want to analyze a microarray (gene expression) dataset.
I need to input the data into R as a multidimensional (multi-way) array,
something on the order of
15,000 x 3 x 8 x 2 [genes x replicates x time points x treatments]
