[newbie] failure to plot a RasterLayer with raster::plot or fields::image.plot
summary: spatial data to be input to a regional-scale environmental

R equivalent of python module structure and functionality?
summary: how to structure an R file such that it can be both
1. used as a script via, e.g., (from OS commandline)
$ Rscript foo.r bar=baz
2. imported and called as a function via, e.g. (from R commandline)
> source('./foo.r)
> foo(bar='baz')
? I'm looking for the 'R equivalent' of how python supports this
usecase.

shared klibc broken on x86_64 with binutils >= 2.17.50.0.2
Hello!
I have encountered a problem when building shared klibc with recent
binutils versions - apparently the breakage happened since binutils
2.17.50.0.2 due to the following change:

The system has AMI BIOS 2.07 (the latest).
We have enabled Hyper-threading, VT-d, VMX in the BIOS.
We installed Ubuntu 12.04 first, followed by, XEN installation (the one that is packaged (4.1) along with

Underscores and Fortran code
This might more properly be filed as a bug report, but ...
I came upon the following problem while trying to dyn.load a library
of Fortran code into R. I'm running RedHat 7.1 on a Pentium III
laptop, with R version 1.3.1 (latest rpm from CRAN) and gcc/g77
version 2.96.
My library has a number of Fortran subroutines that have underscores
in their names for readability. By default g77

[Bug 478] Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=478
------- Additional Comments From kaber@trash.net 2006-05-22 09:32 MET -------
The exact same problem was reported on LKML, also with 2.6.16.13 and Xen. Since
we've had no reports of similar problems without Xen, I doubt that the problem
really is within the netfilter code, especially since we haven't had any problems

Using influence plots and obtaining id numbers
I am a novice R user, and I am having difficulty understanding R's influence
plots.
I am trying to remove outliers from a particular variable, "sib." I am able
to generate influence plots and further outlier information such as below
(which is a shortened example). For my analyses, I end up excluding the
points R refers to, 7, 18, 26, and 105. However, my question is, how can I

NNTP versus web forums

forum that is now part of the centos site. And the mailing lists So
now there are two places to search, both the forum and the mailing list

This is just doubles the work required to follow along or find a
solution.
I know NNTP isn't sexy, it doesn't allow graphics in posts, it doesn't

From NUM to INT
Dear all:
I converted the columns (Baci, Meti, Fungii, Protozoai) into integers
(using excel) and then imported the data (.txt) into R. Interestingly, the
other three variables were loaded as INT, but the 'Baci' one continued as
Num.
I imported the data using the following command line:
X <- read.delim(file.choose(),
header = TRUE,
