converting raster image
Dear R users, I was wondering how I can convert a raster image (that made R through interpolation) into an ascii or csv format? this is the last line of my command p <- interpolate(r, tpsfit) So p is my raster file which I want to convert into ascii or csv Many thanks Regards Mintewab

readGDAL or raster for reading bit map files
Dear all, I have asked yesterday of how I can read a simple bitmap file in R cran. I was suggest to use either readGDAL or raster for loading my bitmap a. I have done it with readGDAL like     store<-readGDAL(fname='lena256.bmp')     and it works,... but it converts my matrix-like notion of a bitmap to a large vector b. Raster also returns a class that I can not understand. So 1,

PPM to BMP converter
Dear all, Several days ago, I posted How to write a bmp file pixel by pixel. Instead of bmp, I succeeded in writing a PPM file by using the pixmap package. Thanks for the hint generously provided by Uwe Ligges. Now I have a new question. How to convert a PPM file to BMP file in R? I know I can do this in photoshop or by some other softwares, but I think if I Can do this in R, that

Tif image to 8bit colour matrix.
Dear listers, I have a collection of tif images that I would like to convert, in R, to a matrix containing the values of the 8bit colour. Ideally, I would like a matrix for each of the colour channels (red, blue and green). I have 'googled' and searched the help list but have yet to find a solution and hope that someone can point me in the right direction. I currently use

map and shapefile help
Hi, I want to use map("state") and have the ecoregion shape (please see link) file projected onto this. ftp://ftp.epa.gov/wed/ecoregions/cec_na/NA_CEC_Eco_Level3.zip ftp://ftp.epa.gov/wed/ecoregions/cec_na/NA_CEC_Eco_Level3.zip Could someone please show me how; I have never messed with this sort of thing. To overlay my raster and its boundary
Hi I want to overlay my raster and its boundary which is a shapefile. When I used thise code separately, all is ok: # Open raster >Image<-read.table("C:\\Users\\Documents\\Nouveau\\Frequence.txt",sep="",dec=",",header=TRUE) >testo<-rasterFromXYZ(Image) >plot(testo) >testo2 <- aggregate(testo,fact=10, fun=mean) >plot(testo2) # open

REad bitmap files
Dear all, I am looking for a function that can read a simple bmp file and return me a matrix with their corresponding values. I have already looked in the packages require(ReadImages) require(pixmap) and also did apropos("image") but I could not find something that can do something like that. I have also tried the read.ftable but it also failed. B.R Alex [[alternative HTML

using rasterImage within image
Has anyone yet tried incorporating rasterImage into the base image() function? It seems to make a *huge* difference, with a very small number of added/changed lines of code. (Of course I have barely tested it at all.) Is there any reason this *shouldn't* go into the next release? > source("image.R") > z <- matrix(runif(1e6),nrow=1000) > image(z) >

Incorrect positioning of raster images on Windows
I am working on dumping raster data from R into PNG files using rasterImage(). I am working with a test matrix from the rasterImage() example and using it to produce a PNG image with the following code: # From the example for rasterImage(). A 3 pixel by 5 pixel b/w checkerboard. testImage <- as.raster(0:1, nrow=3, ncol=5) testImage [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [1,]

elevation map with R
I would like to plot a map of, say, California, showing the elevation areas. I am sure there must be a source where I can find the dataset for the elevation and maybe there's an implementation in R that allows me to map it. Any ideas would be highly appreciated. -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/elevation-map-with-R-tp4641116.html Sent from the R help mailing

converting csv to image file
Hello everyone, I want to get a 1km by lkm grid raster image using my csv data. If I call latitude=a, longitude=b and preciptation=c. a<-(1,2,3,4,5) b<-(6,7,8,9,10) c<-(10,20, 30,40, 50) Then I found an example in r help which goes like pts = read.table("file.csv",......) library(sp) library(rgdal) proj4string(pts)=CRS("+init=epsg:4326") # set it to lat-long pts =

colored rasterImage()
Hello, I have been exploring the possibility to transition some code that currently uses image() to use the new rasterImage(). To date, I haven't been able to specify a color look-up strategy that works. For example... nx <- 100 ny <- 100 m <- matrix(data = rep(seq(0,1, length = nx), ny), ncol = nx, nrow = ny, byrow = TRUE) plot(1:nx, 1:ny, type = "n") my.color

OPeNDAP access with R
I am in the process of converting from Matlab to R, but a major sticking point for me at the moment is accessing data via OPeNDAP. After several hours of searching, I found that other people have discussed this functionality in the past, but it does not appear to have yet been developed. One programmer, Luke Miller, has managed a work-around by downloading ascii data from an OPeNDAP site (

plot method for rasters and layout
Hi list, I thought I was used to layouts, but today I am facing a problem I cannot overcome : On my R installation (Windows 7 Pro, SP1, R version 2.13.0, daily update of packages), I am not able to put raster plots in user defined layouts : > layout.matrix<-matrix(c(1,2,3,4,5,5),2,3) > layout(mat=layout.matrix) > layout.show(5) works fine, I get the correct frames in

Converting the graphics window to a data matrix
I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a way to take what is visible in the R graphics window, pixelate it, and express that pixellation in a numeric matrix. For example, I am using the following command to create a black (present) and white (absent) spatial simulation of grass tussock distribution. > symbols(x=runif(100,-.5,1.5),y=runif(100,-.5,1.5),circles=runif(100)/30,

Problem with adding a raster and a brick
Hi, I seem to be having a problem adding the following two raster objects together - one is a rasterLayer, the other is a rasterBrick. The extent, resolution, and origin are the same, so according to my understand it should work. The objects look like so: > obs.clim class : RasterLayer dimensions : 60, 200, 12000 (nrow, ncol, ncell) resolution : 0.5, 0.5 (x, y) extent : -70,
