Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello,
It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same
behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for
this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a
much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance.

samba_dnsupdate?
Now for the next question. I think (hope?) that I am quite close now.
In order to add a machine to the domain, I think that I need to add a record to
samba's DNS table. But samba_dnsupdate isn't working:

smbstatus issue in v4.1
Sorry I should have said in my original post, this server is a NT4 style
domain server.
Looking in /var/log/samba I see log files with the machine names in the
file names, so samba definitely knows the machine names.

Bug found in Samba 4 ?
Dear Ricky,
Yes, in my original post, below, I gave some details about smb.conf, but
to summarize:
* I am using Samba 4.1.11.
* server role = classic primary domain controller
* domain logons = yes
* domain master = yes
* When I define a fixed-name as logon script in smb.conf, it works :
* logon script = employee.bat
* But if I try either %g.bat or %G.bat, or even

share permissions
I have a share setup on a Samba 4.0.8 / CentOS 6.4 box that is
successfully replicating with a W2K3 server. I'm following the HOWTO
here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_and_configure_file_shares
[mytest]
path = /home/me/mytestshare <-- with or without trailing slash
read only = No
On the W2K3 box, I can browse to \\newdc and I see my test share listed
there. I can also see

My own dumb mistakes, I created a remote desktop connection to that
server and hadn't noticed I as logged in as a non admin user.
Now home directories are created as it should and profile directories
are too, but with the .V2 extension. I stheis the expected behavior?, I

Bug found in Samba 4 ?
Dear all,
As nobody seems to know what the problem could be, I think it must be an
important bug in Samba 4 that "forget" to replace %G or %g with the
group name.
Could someone confirm that it is a bug and that I should fill one, in
samba bugzilla ?
Thank you very much,
Denis

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear Ricky,
Thanks a lot for your answer. But I still have two problems:
1. I am not using samba as AD DC but as PDC.
2. What I would need is the primary group... Do you thinks %WORKGROUP%
could work ?
3. And should I use %WORKGROUP% in smb.conf or in batch login script...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help...

samba slowing down
The longer our samba runs the more delayed the responses become. Samba has
been running for 5 months but this new development was noticed 2 weeks ago.
The first major sign of the issue was a new DC was trying to join and
failed due to timeout errors. At close look we see performance degradation
within a few hours or when we try to join a new DC.

getent group return only local users
Hello
I use S4 file server with nsswitch.conf (ad server is another Linux with
S4) :
passwd: compat winbind
group: compat winbind
I wonder how it can be possible that :
* getent passwd is ok
* but getent group returns only local users (wbinfo -g is ok and
gives domain user)
Any idea ?

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear all,
I experience now a strange bug with Samba 4.1.11 :
When I define a fixed-name as logon script in smb.conf, it works :
logon script = employee.bat
But if I try either %g.bat or %G.bat, or even "%G.bat", it doesn't work
:
* logon script = %g.bat
* logon script = %G.bat
* logon script = "%G.bat"
In the logs, there was a message showing that Samba was

Cross Compile Samba4
Hi,
I try to port samba4beta8 to Optware which includes cross compiling it
for various platforms. I already created makefiles for optware for samba
versions 3.4 and 3.6. Creating a working makefile for samba4 I try to
use the new build environment but it puzzles me. I don't get over part
where the python version is being checked. From my findings it looks
like the linker dislikes the
