How do I diagnose what's going wrong with a Gluster NFS mount?
Hi, Has anyone even seen this before - an NFS mount through Gluster that gets the filesystem size wrong and is otherwise garbled and dangerous? Is there a way within Gluster to fix it, or is the lesson that Gluster's NFS sometimes can't be relied on? What have the experiences been running an external NFS daemon with Gluster? Is that fairly straightforward? Might like to get the

Samba 4 moved mount.cifs and umount.cifs to /usr/local/bin/?
I'm trying to work from the Samba 4 source and SRPM's to build a nice clean Samba package for work, to test some of its features. Overall, I'm happy with what I see, but the new "autogen.sh" seems to construct its "source4/configure" script from these "build" tools, and they entirely ignore the concept of "sbindir" in installing the mount.cifs

autofs + cifs + kerberos
I'm having an issue with autofs mounting cifs using kerberos, on machines joined to an S4 domain controller. Both hosts and S4 server are CentOS 6, and the DC is running samba-4.1.11 from sernet. Autofs is getting it's maps from LDAP from the DC. This part works fine, automount -m shows: Mount point: /share source(s): instance type(s): sss map: auto.share public |

Bug when copying files from a Samba directory mounted by cifs
Hello, I've been having a problem copying files from a Samba directory, mounted by cifs so that it's accessible from a Linux machine. The autofs service is used to mount the Samba directory on /samba/public/name with mount options "-fstype=cifs,guest,file_mode=0664,dir_mode=0775". If I do this: touch /samba/public/name/foo # create an empty file cp

Odd failure of smbd to start from init.d - CentOS 5.4
Hi, We've got a fresh CentOS 5.4 box, and the only glitch so far is that /etc/init.d/smb doesn't start smbd. It claims it does - shows "[ok]" - but only nmbd ends up running. Even setting a higher debugging level in the smbd flags, nothing logs or shows on the console as to why smbd is immediatly quitting. To make it stranger, doing this works fine: . /etc/init.d/functions

Indeed the file mount_cifs.so does not exist on the machine. automount[31080]: open_mount: (mount):cannot

How can a bridge be optimized?
Hi, Netperf tells me that a KVM VM using a bridged connection to a system across the Gigabit LAN sees on average about 1/10th of the bandwidth the host sees. This is on very lightly loaded hosts, although with multiple low-use VMs. I've tried adjusting the CPU throttling after seeing that mentioned as a possible factor in slowing down a bridge, but it has not much if any effect here. Can Samba lock files until copy is complete?
Hi, We've got a system where staff use Samba mounts on their Windows desktops to drop files into a Linux directory for further processing. Some of those files are large, and take time for the file copy across Samba to complete. The problem is that looking at the directory from the Linux side, to see if there are new files to process, the directory listing for the files-copied-across-by-Samba

libvirt-users Digest, Vol 18, Issue 17
Yes, I also think that iptables module should be loaded before libvirt-bin and I have seen a post which regarded loading conntrack modules and these modules also seem to be necessary... I know a little about Upstart in Ubuntu. However, I still don't know how to properly solve this problem. ip_tables module depend on other modules being loaded and since I don't know the full list of modules

Autofs - can you mount only certain home dirs?
Does autofs take completed control of directories mentioned in auto.master? The examples with /home show that you can specify individual users instead of * and &, but even then it seems to take over the whole /home level so you can't see or add local subdirs. I have a small group of users/hosts where I would like to at least temporarily mix/match who is automounted or not. -- Les

Beginner's Stumbling Blocks
Others have commented on the usefulness of adding an explicit list of what should be included in the kernel. I second that. There''s another thing that''s tripped me up: While iproute2 compiles and installs easily (on a Red Hat 6.1 box), the documentation is in a format that - while not obscure to old Unix hands - requires compilation, which requires: "To make documentation,

Using GPO to mount shares on Linux
Hello, I'm using sssd because works fine, is the first time I join a domain with a Linux box and I need an easy and fast guide to make it work. SSSD allow me to cache the use credentials and autofs mounts, so if domain fails the computer will work without problem. Finally is a problem of spn. I've opened the ADSI editor and I've added the CIFS name to the list of SPN in shares server
