Permission denied error while connecting to EMC Celerra 7 server
Hi, I'm getting "Permission denied" error while connecting to a EMC Celerra (version 7) server from samba client on unix machine. Looking at the packet capture it is observed that samba client is authenticating with "anonymous" instead of the user name that has been provided. Here are flags received from EMC Celerra 7 server as part of "Session Setup AndX Response,

cannot connect without user/pass on Windows 10
Hi, A number of students are unable to connect to our print server from their Windows 10 client laptop without entering a user/pass. More precisely: If you try to connect manually to \\IP it says "Username or password incorrect" and prompts to enter a username/password. Despite the server setting to map all users to guest (see further down). I did a packet dump and the client pc

Major Samba Battle
I've been here before but I'm still battling with getting Samba to work right with my XP Pro clients. In a nutshell, when I try to access a share, it asks for a username and password. I enter a username and password and it simply goes right back to the prompt, asking again. This is when it's set up as a domain controller. I should note: I CAN join the domain. I DO have my

Failure to transfer files to Win2008 Server Clusters
Hi, list: Our printers are using samba-3.0.37, and we hit a problem recently when doing file transfer to Windows 2008 Server Clusters. The error occurs when the printer attempts to locate the file path and uses the server IP address rather than the hostname: ====================================================== 18 21.335677 13.121.8.162 13.121.8.3 SMB Session Setup AndX Request,

Does samba provide a fuzzing mode that uses deterministic NTLMSSP_Challenge?
Hi, Recently I want to fuzz samba systematically (instead of functional fuzzing like OSS-Fuzz/samba). However, the fuzzer acts like smbclient and needs to establish a connection with the samba server via NTLM authentication. The NTLMSSP_Challenge sent by the server is not deterministic, which can render the fuzzing based on previously captured traffic futile. Does samba provide a fuzzing mode

XP SP2 client doesn't find netbios alias servers
After upgrading XP to SP2, I can no longer connect to server aliases. The client reports an error 53, "The network path was not found", when doing "net use * \\prof\profile. Mapping to a share on the real netbios name works fine. Anyone else seen this? Setup: samba-3.0.6.rc2 smb.conf [global] netbios aliases = PROF include = /etc/samba/smb.%L smb.prof [profile] path =

smbclient, kerberos, and EMC
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get smbclient to cooperate with my new EMC Celerra (just got it a little while ago) using kerberos. My windows domain environment is win2000 + sp4, the EMC is "joined" to the domain. I am using samba 3.0, fresh sources, and MIT KRB5 1.3.4, all freshly built. I join the domain, etc. everything is happy. I use kinit user@REALM to get my initial tgt.

Joining EMC NAS to Samba 3 Domain?
I see list discussions on this subject from a few years back but they were very brief and, it seems, inconclusive. I would be interested in hearing from anybody who has discovered the "trick" to getting an EMC Celerra to join their Samba 3.x domain. I have an old NetApp Filer happily joined. I simply created an account with "smbldap-useradd -w filername" and when I then

[Fwd: Re: Ocfs and EMC Powerpath]
That should say below, we are using Powerpath on the CX300's AND the CX600's... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We are using Powerpath with CX300's and Emulex HBA's, also with OCFS on Red Hat 2.1 AS. Kernel upgrades are the biggest issue that we have, as some of the drivers are dependent on modules built for specific kernels, and if your

Problem using Samba to access nfs mount on linux to EMC share from WinXP
Our company recently did a poor job of migrating us to a new EMC system for NAS. We were immediately faced with its inability to translate permissions between UNIX and windows since our company hasn't figured out EMC's secure mode permissions. Since the EMC maintained the proper UNIX permissions, we tried using a samba server on linux to share out an NFS mount of the EMC partition to our

EMC migration and zfs
We are going to be migrating to a new EMC frame using Open Replicator. ZFS is sitting on volumes that are running MPXIO. So the controller number/disk number is going to change when we reboot the server. I would like to konw if anyone has done this and will the zfs filesystems "just work" and find the new disk id numbers when we go to zfs import the pool. Our process would be: zfs

EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi, We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :) Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage, preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience? Or I will need to buy some REHL licenses ? I'll put my hands on it only next

EMC/ACBEL Polytech UPS
I have a couple EMC relabled ACBEL/Polytech UPSs which I'm unable to find anything about. What I do know is that ACBEL/Polytech is CoolerMaster, however, they don't make UPSs that I know of. These UPSs were used as part of an EMC Clarion array. Does anyone know anything about these? Thanks, Mark. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Performance problem with CentOS and XFS on EMC
We have an appliance that uses the CentOS 4.4 Plus kernel with XFS on an EMC RAID array that performs about ? or less as well with cached i/o than with direct i/o. With direct i/o we get about 32Mb/s throughput or better, but if we enable the cache for the EMC RAID, we only get 8Mb/s or less. This doesn't happen if we use JFS, where we get a little less than 32Mb/s throughput with or without

Ocfs and EMC Powerpath
A couple years ago, we moved to Oracle RAC on Linux using ocfs that is SAN attached to an EMC CLARiiON. At the time, there was a reason that we did NOT use EMC's Powerpath (I just can't recall what that reason was). What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with introducing Powerpath now. * RHEL 2.1 AS * 2.4.9-e.38enterprise * ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.13-1 * EMC

[PATCH] support OEM encoding in NTLM messages
Hello, after I started to use dovecot as a backend for exim4 SMTP authentication on my main mailserver, I noticed that some clients don't advertise unicode support and so they can't log in. To fix the problem the attached patch allows use of OEM encoding in NTLM messages. Please consider applying. Best regards. P.S. I want to release exim4 patch in the near future, probably when Timo
