Two attempts required to join domain
Hi Everyone. I have run across an issue that is driving me crazy. This is a new deployment of Samba v3.6.5 with openldap v2.4.30 and smbldap-tools v0.9.8 When trying to join the domain, on the first attempt the machine account is properly created in the correct ou - e.g. ou=Computers,dc=domain,dc=local But the "failed to join domain" pop-up with reason of "The user name could

Access to Samba-Shares with "sign communications = mandatory"
Hello Samba-Specialists, which smb.conf-options do I have to set to get access to a Samba-Share from a Windows7-Machine, if the Windows7-Machine is very restrictive configured regarding 'smb-signing'? Windows7-Configuration: Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (if server agrees): Enabled Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always): Enabled

wilcox.test point estimates perverse (PR#1150)
The point estimates produced by wilcox.test are perverse (not wrong, just brain damaged). The Hodges-Lehmann estimator that goes with the signed rank test is the median of the Walsh averages. The Hodges-Lehmann estimator that goes with the rank sum test is the median of the pairwise differences. wilcox.test agrees except that it uses the following very peculiar definition of "sample

Axes intercept
I have a plot where the values of the y axis go from a positive number to a negative number and I want the x axis to intercept at zero rather than at the bottom of the y axis, regardless of its value. Can anyone help me to do this? Thanks in advance Vivien Vivien Kent MSc Oxon PhD candidate Evolutionary Anthropology Research Group Department of Anthropology Durham University Dawson

Variable Names
Dear R users, That's probably a silly question even for a newbie but : Is it possible to assign variable prices as variable names ? For instance, would something like the following work : for (i in 1:4) { error.i <- some_calculation } so "error.i" variables would be created for i=1,2,3,4 i.e. error.1 error.2 error.3 etc. etc. Costas --

Low performance when using "server signing" = "mandatory"
Hello, I'm experiencing very slow read/write performance, about 20 MB/s, on Samba share when I configure the "server signing" option as "mandatory". Once I set "server signing" to "default", the read/write performance returns to average speed about 800 MB/s. I am using Samba 4.9.4 on server with Intel Xeon CPU E5-2690 0 @ 2.90GHz (32 threads) and 10 Gbit

SMB 3.0 & W2003: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory ...
Hi! I'm trying to connect to a share on a Windows 2003 server with samba 3.0.0. I have edited smb.conf as was instructed in chapter 7 of the Samba-HOWTO-Collection to include the following: client use spnego = yes When I try to connect to the server, I get the following error: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it 2355: protocol negotiation failed SMB connection

Q: mount -t smbfs: "cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it."
Hi, I was trying smbmount (SuSE's samba-client-3.0.20b-3.4). The mount command replied: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it. 9451: protocol negotiation failed SMB connection failed No I'd suggest to change the message at least: It's unclear who "we" is: The Samba Team, the client, or the server The server is a "Windows 2003 server",

Low performance when using "server signing" = "mandatory"
Ok thank you. So, Is my file server with Samba 4.17.12 vulnerable to CVE-2016-2114 if it is not a DC server? To be clear, I don't use any Active Directory domain controller in my network. multinom and contrasts
Hi, I found that using different contrasts (e.g. contr.helmert vs. contr.treatment) will generate different fitted probabilities from multinomial logistic regression using multinom(); while the fitted probabilities from binary logistic regression seem to be the same. Why is that? and for multinomial logisitc regression, what contrast should be used? I guess it's helmert? here is an example

generating contrast names
Dear R-devel list members, I'd like to suggest a more flexible procedure for generating contrast names. I apologise for a relatively long message -- I want my proposal to be clear. I've never liked the current approach. For example, the names generated by contr.treatment paste factor to level names with no separation between the two; contr.sum simply numbers contrasts (I recall an

Mandatory Server Signing with Windows 7
When I enable server signing in Samba (server signing = mandatory), I can still join a Window 7 machine to the domain but I am no longer able to log on into the domain using a domain user. Is this normal? I am using Samba 3.6.3 on Linux 12.04. Is there anything that needs to be configured on the Windows machine? Thanks, Ali

forcing a zero level in contr.sum
I need to use contr.sum and observe that some levels are not statistically different from the overall mean of zero. What is the proper way of forcing the zero estimate? It seems the column corresponding to that level should become a column of zeros. Is there a way to achieve that without me constructing the design matrix? Thank you. contr.sum() and contrast names
Hi! I would like to suggest to make it possible, in one way or another, to get meaningful contrast names when using contr.sum(). Currently, when using contr.treatment(), one gets factor levels as contrast names; but when using contr.sum(), contrasts are merely numbered, which is not practical and can lead to mistakes (see code at the end of this message). This issue was discussed quickly in 2005
