Hello everyone.
I joined this list because I cannot find an answer to my problem. The
setup is this:
I installed CentOS release 6.5 (Final) minimal version
Updated all packages
Added the server to the Active Directory domain as a member server
using the method described here (using adcli, kerberos and sssd):

users map with ADS not working
Hi All
I am running two instances of samba on same box. One instance of samba has joined AD domain ABC and the other 123. My workstation is on ABC domain and when I try to connect to samba server on ABC domain, it asks me for user name and password and then fails. If I put IP address instead it works. At the same time, when I try to connect to 123 domain, it asks me for user name and password and

hi guys
I managed to setup the share. I am able to access the share with IP address, but as soon as I try to do it via hostname, I get a user name and password pop up, which always fail to authenticate. Any setting I am missing?
Thanks

smb_krb5_open_keytab failed (Key table name malformed)
Hi.
I joined a fileserver system with Samba version 4.5.12-Debian (fileserv) in
an Active Directory domain managed by a Samba 4.6.7-Ubuntu installed on
another system using "realm discover" and sssd.
The Samba fileserver is correctly joined into the domain and I can
correctly browse AD users:
root at fileserv:/# getent passwd my.user

Linux & Windows clients domain join - Error: NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
Sorry, I'll try this again. It appears the email got stripped out and
left the attachment.

I'm having an issue where any machine refuses to join the domain. It's
a a Debian server(lenny) with an LDAP backend. I assume the issue is
something obvious, but this is an "inherited" network and based on the
state of the rest of it, the issue could be

Samba 3.0.21b is not able to connect to password server
On our AIX 5.2 system we have Samba 3.0.4 and 3.0.21b. The smb.conf files
are identical for both versions. The 3.0.4 version runs fine, but with
3.0.21b, we get errors like the following when trying to run smbclient:

Good afternoon.
I cannot seem to get my test samba (domain member) server to use a
windows 2003 PDC, SJMEMDC40. Are there any outstanding issues with a
win2003 PDC and a samba domain member server?

Unable to authenticate to samba.
I have a samba server running 3.0.4 on a true 64 unix, the problem I
have with this is that sometimes some users can't log-on, so I decided
to upgrade to the new version.I have configed it so that their windows
login is used to authenticate them, all users have accounts on the unix
but the passwords differ. I never changed the config file, but I keep
getting these messages:

an IT guy to come run a script that does the equivalent of net ads join and

Samba 4.11.6 cannot JOIN - 'Could not find machine account'
I'm still digging for the solution to this problem...
The error seems to be triggered by some failure with talking to the NBTNS service (lmhosts)
on the windows machine. (Port 137)
Here is the section of the winbindd log where it fails to fetch the machine account:

I will really appreciate your help to figure out the culprit.

Samba 4.11.6 cannot JOIN - 'Could not find machine account'
Dug deeper (i.e. into the source code)... no answer yet.
The samba join process is failing when fetching the domain's machine password
from the secrets.tdb database, which presumably it has just built as part of the JOIN..
Specifically, it is looking for an entry: "SECRETS/$MACHINE.ACC/OFFICE" in secrets.tdb.
When that fails, samba looks in secrets.ldb in "cn=Primary

Specifics samba-3.0.0beta1-1.i386.rpm on RedHat 9 and smbpasswd

machine account was setup on the fly and it appears in passwd, shadow, and

join the domain, about 1-1/2 minutes. I can browse the Samba PDC machine
and access the shares, etc. After

Joining a Linux machine to windows 2003 PDC
Hi,
I am a newcomer in Samba world. I am sure this
question might have asked in this group earlier by
somebody.
I have a windows 2003 server running as a PDC in my
network. I am trying to join to that domain with a
Linux machine (SuSE 8.1 ). I can see my Linux machine
in widows network neighbor hood but when ever I try
to click on that machine it gives me an error I can't

Has anyone created a UAT environment to go with test, development and production?
Has anyone tried to add another environment.
When developing I develop locally, deploy to a UAT environment for
checking that my stuff fits into the organisations infrastucture and
user testing and then deploy to production.
test and production are fine. The main problem is that development (I
currently hack the the database.yml and drop the test branch to loose

Samba server as a Primary Domain controller with LDAP
Dear Experts,
I want to Run a Samba server as a Primary Domain controller in Open Suse 10.3 or Centos 5. This server will serve for 200 windows and linux clients. Users will login in their PC and authentication will be given by Samba Server to all $ MS or Linux computers. All the data and E-mails of the clients will be stored in Linux Server for backup management.
In this case, tell
