doveadm purge -A via doveadm-proxy director fails after some users
Hi,
we have configured userdb and passdb in the director and try to
iterate all users and pass the "purge" command via doveadm proxy to
port 19000 on the correct director backend host.
A single purge -u username at example.org via doveadm-proxy works correctly,
but iterating over some users with -A fails.
Note: users/domains have been anonymized in output:

Corrupted mdbox on LMTP director delivery while user is logged in via IMAP
Hi,
we get errors about corrupted indexes and we are losing flags with mdbox on NFSv4:
Error: Recent flags state corrupted for mailbox
Error: Corrupted dbox file
Error: Corrupted transaction log file
It looks like a LMTP director problem. The user has IMAP IDLE connections
open and lmtp delivers to another host. This leads to nfs corruption problems.
The user is logged into mail04 and has some

Dovecot 2.1.16 doveadm purge -A segfault
Hi,
I know that a lot of work has been done regarding doveadm server, but I'm still
experiencing easily reproducible segfault crashes of doveadm-server with 2.1.16
when running the following command in a 4 node director/mailbox cluster:
/usr/bin/doveadm -c /etc/dovecot-director/dovecot-director.conf -D purge -A
The dovecot-error.log shows the following errors (addresses anonymized):

Deleted / read mails show up as new on remote imap clients
Hi,
I've one problem:
Mails, which I already read or deleted via my IMAP client (Thunderbird)
on the same machine running the server (it runs behind DynDNS on my
local machine, thanks to http://mein.homelinux.com/wiki/mailserver/)
show up again if I connect via IMAP from other client computers, i.e. my
notebook (Thunderbird again).
As you can see from the config below I have

doveadm director move behaviour
Hi,
I have a director farm running in front of dovecot pop/imap servers.
For a reason, one of my backend servers have been down, so poolmon
disables it in director servers and users corresponding to it has been
sent to other servers. Until this, no problem.
Now my failed backend server is up again, and I want to redirect all of
its users to it, without waiting for it director sessions to

Performance problems while running doveadm purge
I have a rather large and active mdbox (28 GB, 3M mess, 1200
deliveries/day). I usually have no problems working with those mails,
and there is some batch processing going on (via doveadm).
Every few weeks I try my luck running doveadm purge, and this
a) crunches about 5GB (to be expected),
b) takes rather long (ok),
c) leads to long stretches of blocked mdbox, which is the problem.
I always

lmtp proxy timeout while waiting for reply to DATA reply
Hi,
we are experiencing similar sporadic data timeout issues with dovecot 2.0.20
as in http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2011-June/059807.html
at least once a week. Some mails get temporarily deferred in the
postfix queue since dovecot director lmtp refuses them and the
mails are delivered at a later time.
The problem applies to mails delivered to single users as well as distribution

Dovecot Director and MasterUsers
Hi,
the Dovecot Director determines the backend host in some way by hashing the username:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Director
For normal logins username at example.org, the director always gets the same hash
for the same username and ensures that the login is always proxied to the same backend.
But what about MasterUsers in combination with Dovecot Director?

users mail folders have to be subscribed
Hi,
I did a migration from cyrus 2.2 to dovecot (fresh installation, details
below) via cyrus2dovecot from FU Berlin. That worked, but I first was
missing mails in subfolders ander Inbox. No I detected that they are in the
users Maildir in folders in his directory. They are listed when using
telnet:

* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "."

dovecot 2 variables
Hi,
I am trying to use separate configurations for ldap authentication thus
providing users
with the ability to only use username without domain part. Now according to
documentation this should be possible
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/PasswdFile
but I keep getting error in my dovecot.log like this
auth: Error: Can't open configuration file

RFC 6154: German umlauts in special_use folder names
Hi,
the Drafts special folder is called "Entw?rfe" in German locale.
How should the special_use entry in the config file look like?
Would you recommended to use the encoded folder name...
mailbox "Entw&APw-rfe" {
special_use = \Drafts
}
...or rather the utf-8 Encoding in the dovecot config file?
mailbox "Entw?rfe" {
special_use = \Drafts
}

per-user quotas
Hello,
I've got quotas set up on an all-user basis on my system, it's a
Postfix, Dovecot, Mysql virtual users setup. Currently I have each
user getting a 1GB quota with these settings in 90-quota.conf:
plugin {
quota_rule = *:storage=1G
quota_rule2 = Trash:storage=+100M
}
plugin {
quota = maildir:User quota
}
While this works it's not what I want for all users. Say I add a

doveadm purge on shared storage
We've finally (!) started to put some users on mdbox instead of maildir,
and now I'm wondering about the purge step. As we're running GPFS for the
mailboxes (and dovecot director in front of every dovecot service), is
it important to run the "doveadm purge -u $user" on the same host as
$user is logged into to avoid index corruption ?
If so, will we need to run the

doveadm purge output
Running "doveadm purge" with both -D and -v parms, and both -A and -u
options, I don't see much in the way of output.
doveadm -v purge -u username just returns with no output
doveadm -v purge -A returns no output for most users - for my own
mailbox it yields "20 / 21"
-D returns the same, along with messages about skipping plugin modules.
Is this normal? I'm

doveadm purge on clusterfs
Since doveadm service proxying apparently doesn't work with dovecot
v2.0, we need to find a way to safely run doveadm purge on the host the
user is logged into.
Would it be OK to run purge in the pop/imap postlogin scripts? We
already do a conditional:
test /var/log/activemailaccounts/imap/$USER -ot /var/log/activemailaccounts/today
then
touch /var/log/activemailaccounts/imap/$USER
