kern.maxswzone is gone... what next?
Hi all.
I prefer to build all ports in /tmp, which is actually a tmpfs
filesystem. I have 8G partition. But when I tried to compile Apache
OpenOffice system starts shooting processes when I was near 6G of swap.

load testing and tuning a 4GB RAM server
Hello everyone,
First of all, great job on the 4.8-R. We have been a long standing user of
FreeBSD and are very happy with everything.
Now my question. I am trying to stress test a new Dell PowerEdge server
and find the limits of its hardware and my tuning. Here are the server
stats:
* 2x Xeon 2.8 with SMP compiled, hyperthreading NOT compiled in kernel
* 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB of swap on Raid 1

Ports and WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS
Hello,
I wanted to try the new c++ stuff, ie clang-3.2, libc++ and libcxxrt, so I
used poudriere to build a jail setup for that ( WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS=yes in
src.conf, CXXFLAGS+=-stdlib=libc++ and libsupc++.so.1 libcxxrt.so.1 in
libmap.conf ), and started to build my normal set of packages ( see
desktop.list ). Please note that I also have WITH_NEW_XORG=yes and

scim-panel-gtk segfault (2)
Hello,
Here's more info on the problem below:
newer scim packages scim-1.4.6-5.fc8 (fc8) do fix a segfault:
* Fri Nov 17 2006 Shawn Huang <phuang at redhat.com> - 1.4.5-2
- add scim-fix-unload-segfault.patch to fix xim process segfaulting
when already running (#206995)
Could that be the issue?

Multiple xyplots
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping you can give me some pointers. I have a requirement to draw
multiple (103) xy line plots onto one output device. Ideally the plots
should be displayed in a hexagonal grid (example at
www.maladmin.com/example.jpg). I can calculate the locations for each
waveform but am wondering how to create multiple plotting areas. I have
come accross references to a package grid

Domain Users and smbldap-useradd
I noticed that when I create users with smbldap-useradd, the default
group is "Domain Users".
Is this the best user/group default setup for Samba/LDAP?
I'm more familar with the unix user/group setup like max/students or
max/faculty.
Does the user group have to be "Domain Users" when using Samba?
Thanks,
Yasee

[fdo] Standardization of input methods on Linux?
Hello!
I don't know how well this fits within the scope of Freedesktop's
current work, but as a Linux user who studies languages, I think there's
an area that could definitely use improvement, namely input methods for
various Asian and other non-romance languages. While several solutions
for inputting these languages are available, most of them seem to be of

Gcc error during make depend/make of latest Git-Wine source.
I'm on Linux Mint Fluxbox CE 5 trying to compile the latest Git source. I previously had Wine 1.0 something from the Synaptic repos, and wanted bleeding edge so I did
Code:
$ aptitude remove wine
and then followed the Wine + Git instructions. After the repo was cloned I ran ./configure, installed a couple dependencies and libfreetype-dev, and the config script then ran fine. Then I

the following line in fstab used to work just fine for my /tmp:
