guest management: 1 and only 1 instance
Gang,
???? I run several KVM host machines.? Due to updates, maintenance,
and unexpected reboots sometime host machines are restarted.? I can
easily envision a scenario where HostX needs some critical packages
updated or is acting up.? I migrate guest0, guest1, guest2 etc. from
HostX to HostY.? Then, in either a planned (i.e. scheduled

Libvirt mpiexec networking issue
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the best place to put this question since I'm not sure
if it's a Libvirt issue but...
I currently have two VMs up with networking and I can successfully ssh to
and from each VM and I have confirmed that I can successfully download
things from the internet. However, when trying to run mpiexec (which uses
ssh), the connection fails and gives me the following

Libvirt Seg Fault when compiling either 0.9.13 or 0.10.0-rc1
Hi all,
I am trying to install a version of Libvirt that will be compatible with
qemu-kvm-1.1 but I cannot seem to get Libvirt to compile. During the make
portion of the install I get the following error:

New tool proposal
Hi Rich,
We just talked about a new tool virt-diff which can diff files
between two guest, suggested by Kamezawa Hiroyuki <kamezawa.hiroyu at jp.fujitsu.com>
things like below,
# virt-diff -Nru --guest=Guest0 --guest=Guest1 /etc/hosts
Any thought about this?
Another question, what do you think about implement iptables,
firewall, yum, rpm, etc into libguestfs?
Thanks,

how to detect if qemu supports live disk snapshot
Hi everyone,
Using the QEMU hypervisor, when a live disk snapshot is requested through libvirt,
the request can fail if the underyling qemu binary lacks the snapshotting
support.
In python, we have something like
libvirtError: Operation not supported: live disk snapshot not supported with this QEMU binary
I'd like to detect ahead of time if the underlying QEMU can or cannot do

Libvirt Qemu compatibility
Hi all,
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Server and I am trying to figure out which versions
of qemu-kvm and libvirt are known to work well together and if there is
anything special that needs to be done during their installs. I am trying
to work with the latest version of libvirt possible that will be stable
with qemu-kvm. Right now, the only configuration I've been able to get
working are the

New version of UFO - is there a new HOWTO?
I just installed glusterfs-swift 3.3.1 on a couple of Fedora 18 servers.
This is based on swift 1.7.4 and has keystone in the config. I had
experimented with the one based on swift 1.4.8 and tempauth and had some
problems with it. The HOWTO I can find is still for the old one. Is
there an updated one?
I would also need to find some instructions on setting up keystone from
scratch for

packets from DomU on VLAN disappear
Hi,
I have a problem similar to the previous poster (thread: Virtual network of DomU''s), but apparently not with similar solutions...
Situation:
- two physical links aggregated to "default0"
- dladm create-vlan on default0 with several different vlans
- xVM DomU running linux connected to the same vlans
when trying to ping the DomU from Dom0, I can see with snoop (in Dom0)

UFO - new version capable of S3 API?
I was running the previous version of UFO, the 3.3 one that was based on
Swift 1.4.8. Now there is a 3.3.1 based on Swift 1.7.4. The config
that I used last time to enable S3 isn't working with the new one, just
updated yesterday using yum. I was using tempauth in the old version
and I'm still using tempauth.
I have a CentOS 6 system and a Fedora 18 system with UFO on them. The

Fedora 18 dom0, no video?
Hi all. I''ve got a situation with Fedora 18 on a dual Xeon E5506 box,
16GB RAM, Tyan S7002 motherboard with the latest BIOS. Because of all
the issues, I''m starting to think maybe there''s something wrong with
the box itself, maybe something strange going on with the BIOS or mobo
resources. Although this box was in service without incident for
about 2 years prior. I

Libvirt daemon segfaults when run as root
Hi all,
For some reason when I run "libvirtd -d" as root it seems to not start. I
investigate by running "libvirtd -v" as root and I get a segfault. Here is
