CentOS6 gvfs disk thrashing
We recently started upgrading users' workstations to CentOS6. Now
we've come across an interesting issue:
~user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata is filling up with tons of files.
Once there are around 69270 of them, no more are being created, and
the NetApp filer the user's home is on logs:
Directory ..../user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/ reached the maxdirsize

Samba protocol version in libsmbclient
Hi,
What determines the protocol version that libsmbclient uses?
Changing min and max protocol version in the client smb.conf seems to have
no effect.
I'm chasing up the performance issues I posted about earlier which may be
caused by my Linux clients defaulting to SMB1 (via gvfsd-smb) while Windows
happily negotiates SMB2 with the servers.
If I restrict the servers to SMB2, gvfs can't

Unable to create / copy / delete a file on a SMBv1 only device using Samba 4.12.x
Hello.
I'm using Archlinux Mate with its testing repositories activated. I am only
the owner of an ISP "box" with an embedded HDD working only with SMBv1
protocol.
After I updated my archlinux box to Samba 4.12.0, I noticed that my access
was rejected.
I tweaked my /etc/samba/smb.conf to add this in [global] section.

Installing X on a Minimal Build
hey, any way I can install X onto the 'minimal build' via yum?
I'd just reinstall, but am working with a 2TB system and it would take
hours to re-do. Just curious...

I have rpmforge installed, so at least i'm pointed at the dag repos.

Problem indexing text with spelling enabled in Perl
Hi All,
I'm using the TermGenerator::index_text() on version 1.0.4 with the
FLAG_SPELLING turned on, because the new spelling suggestion stuff
seems awesome, but I'm getting a segv.

This is another error different from the previous posting.
I want to compile xapian-core-0.9.4_svn6707 with UTF-8 patch.

Upssched 100% CPU after updating Debian 12
So, got some good news: I hear(*) I managed to reproduce the problem with
current NUT master and an adapted copy of your posted configs and script :D
Experimental debugging now sounds possible.
(*) PC under the desk wails with all its cooling fans as soon as I started
the client which spawned a daemon and itself had exited:

Crashes with spelling enabled and perl.
Hi Guys,
Here's a simple test case that causes a segfault with the perl
bindings patched to enable spelling correction:

use warnings;
use Search::Xapian;
my $db = Search::Xapian::WritableDatabase->new("test.db",
Search::Xapian::DB_CREATE_OR_OPEN);
if (!defined($db)) {
die("Failed to open xapian_database: $!");
}
