Explain Cause of Error: manager.c: Accept returned -1: Too many open files
Hi List,
While I know that "upping" ulimit will fix the issue I am trying to understand what will cause it. I have a few set ups that are almost exactly the same yet some machines used to give this error often and others don't. I also noticed the error a lot more on my boxes running 1.4.X.
TIA.
Dovid

a2billing
hello,
I just installed a2billing, I did all the config, at least I guess ..
but I still can not integrate sip accounts that I had created (with sip.conf
) in a2billing to apply their billing ..
could someone tell me how to make the junction between asterisk and
a2billing??
I also noticed that the file
additional_a2billing_sip.conf : was always empty ...

Troubleshooting "too many open files'
Hi,
Besides file-max and file-nr is there anywhere else I
should be looking to solve a C program giving me 'too
many open files' problem? (centos 3.4)
While the program is complaining here were the values
file-max
209632
file-nr
3655 258 209632
lsof | wc -l
around 7000 during and about 1111 less after I closed
the application.
Any ideas? thx

too many files open
Good morning Btrfs list,
I have been loading a btrfs file system via a script rsyncing data files
from an nfs mounted directory. The script runs well but after several
days (moving about 10TB) rsync reports that it is sending the file list
but stops moving data because btrfs balks saying too many files open. A
simple umount/mount fixes the problem. What am I flushing when I
remount that

dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files
In the past few months we've been having increasing problems with dovecot
timing out pop3 logins.
As best I can tell it gets to the point where it won't accept any new pop3
logins.
The error in the mail log is:
dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files
I've researched this problem a number of times, usually I see suggestions to
increase ulimit.
I've done this a number of

too many open files
I am getting an error about to many open files.
I tried to "echo 500000 > /proc/sys/fs/file-max"
The number is there now, but I continue to get the error.
Is there something else to do?
