Bug: subscriptions file
Sorry for top posting, my client is still broken. I have never seen the ghost of a "system-alerts" or similar "well-known" mail folder in the past 30 years. Compliance with an RFC obscure feature is compellong us all to clear subscriptions fol ders by hand. As we meet the problem over and over again, a non-RFC configuration option could solve the problem, and it would be

UIDL and IMAP
I finally got my aging FC2 box retired and moved all email to my new CentOS 5 box. My site is all-IMAP, no POP3. I have one user who downloads all email to Thunderbird on his laptop so that he can work offline while away from a network connection (eg. on an airplane). I forgot to change the pop3_uidl_format setting as described here: <http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading/1.0> So he was

[Pigeonhole Sieve interpreter] :create argument and lda_mailbox_autosubscribe setting
Hi, I am using dovecot and dovecot-sieve packages from Debian Wheezy (2.1.7-7+deb7u1). I noticed that while using ":create" (from the mailbox extension) in my Sieve filter and "lda_mailbox_autosubscribe = yes" in Dovecot's LDA config it automatically subscribes to the destination mailbox even if that mailbox already existed. Reading Dovecot's documentation and the

subscriptions vs mailboxlist
Is there a way to change the name of the .subscriptions file that dovecot looks for to .mailboxlist to be compatible with WU-IMAP? It would be handy for testing and conversion if you had that. BTW - I'm a new user and your software is very well designed. -- Marc Perkel - marc at perkel.com Spam Filter: http://www.junkemailfilter.com My Blog: http://marc.perkel.com

Applying Dovecot for a large / deep folder-hierarchy archive.
Hi all, The guidance provided so far has been really helpful, and has helped a great deal to bringing down wasted energy on finding and executing a viable path. I am now at the final due action to complete our Dovecot application to our use-case, but am stuck on an issue that I cannot find any easily accessible documentation on. Generally this is what has been done: 1. Uploaded the enterprise

Persistence of UIDs
Hi everyone, I have a question concerning UIDs. How persistant are they? I am thinking about building some form of webmail specialized for some specific business purpose and I am thinking of building a sort of cache in a DB by storing the email addr, date, subject and UID for quick lookups and search of correspondance. I am doing this because I am having issue with multiple people searching

Bug: subscriptions file
I understand that reading that paragraph makes it sounds obscure and outdated. But the problem is that if something deletes & recreates your folder, while you were gone, you would lose the subscription. This includes other MUAs that are in no way obligated to resubscribe to the folder if they do this. Aki On 23.05.2018 23:13, Rupert Gallagher wrote: > Sorry for top posting, my client is

Thinking Outside the Box - Extending IMAP
Here's some thoughts I'd like to throw out there. I know it's not standard IMAP protocol but someone has to try new ideas first and I want to see what people (Timo) think of this. IMAP establishes a connection between the client and the server. Wouldn't it be great if it could be a conduit to let custom Thunderbird plugins talk to custom server application over the IMAP

I'd rather not add RFC-breaking settings. But there's IMAP4rev2 discussion going on in https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/extra <https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/extra>. Someone motivated enough could perhaps try to suggest changing this behavior in there. > On 23 May 2018, at 23.13, Rupert Gallagher <ruga at protonmail.com> wrote: > > Sorry for top posting,

I have a strange behavior on a customer's server and I don't understand that: User "bar" has some folders and one shared folder from "foo" if I use the "LIST"-command, which should list AFAIK *all* folders: # telnet localhost 143 a login bar xxxx a OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE SORT SORT=DISPLAY THREAD=REFERENCES

Applying Dovecot for a large / deep folder-hierarchy archive - BUG REPORTS!
Your report is most appreciated, though it lacked quite a lot of detail that could've expedited the investigation why it happened. With the further information we can hopefully figure out why you are experiencing the problems you reported. There is no offense intended. Understand the UID value in mailbox debug
Hi list we have a client who complains that mails from a certain sender are always put into his spamfolder. Our strong guess is that this is an issue with the webmail (Roundcube), but I need some help in understanding the output from dovecot's mailbox-debug. In order to narrow down the source of the problem we activated the mailbox-debug from Dovecot. Now we can see that the mail is moved
