Spamassassin + Postfix : delete spam mail on the server ?
Hi, My mail server is running on CentOS 7 with Postfix, Dovecot and Spamassassin. I get quite a lot of spam on a few accounts, and Spamassassin does its job fine. Spam mail is identified correctly, and it looks like there are no false positives, e. g. valid mail is never identified as spam. When a message is flagged as spam, the subject line is rewritten to begin with [SPAM]. Then, a filter in

linux 2.4 vs 2.6 kernel
hi I read ( I think in dovecot wiki) that ext2 or ext3 fs on a 2.4 kernel can get slow due to the number of files in a directory. Does anyone know if kernel 2.6 has similar limitation? I'm not at that point now, but before the box goes live, I'm wondering if I should resolve that. Glenn

Unoffical Survey - What MTA/Spam filtering do you use?
I like this unofficial survey of hardware but wondering what MTA and spam filtering everyone is using. I do front end spam filtering for other servers as well. (junkemailfilter.com) I'm using Exim 4.61 SpamAssassin 3.11 Some version of DSpam that I'm experimenting with Most of my spam filtering happens on the Exim level. [LLVMdev] Mails from IITH marked as spam
Dear Admin, It seems that mails from our iit.ac.in domain are being marked as spam. It would be nice if something could be done about this. Understanding why Dovecot unexpectedly died
Hi list! I use Dovecot 1.2.17 (I can't upgrade right now, due to many reasons), controlled by Pacemaker (I have an HA-Cluster). Now I see that Pacemaker restarts often Dovecot. I wrote my own script to manage Dovecot, since Pacemaker does not have his own. My script, by the "monitor" section has this: monitor) if [ ! -e $OCF_RESKEY_pid ]; then

potsfix keeping mail in queue on delivery error
Hello, Our mail server is running CentOS 5.3. I configured postfix with maildrop as the MDA. I had to deal with a strange issue : a user sent an email to an alias, which resolves into several internal addresses. One of these addresses had its mbox filled up (reached the mailbox_size_limit); so maildrop reported a 0x19 error code to postfix, who kept the mail in its queue, and repeatedly resent

Thank You!
Robert's suggestion indeed fixed the problem. I kept thinking those entries were necessary in inetd.conf. Also, kind thanks to Fred Gilbert for his prompt responses.:-) John

mail server best practices question
Hello all, About a year ago I set up a mail server on CentOS using this howto: http://wanderingbarque.com/howtos/mailserver/mailserver.html I managed to add amavisd-new with clamav and spamassassin. It runs very well, but it runs on CentOS 5.2, and if I try to upgrade, amavisd-new and clamav break. we are now also at the point where a backup mx will need to be implemented. If necessary I am

A Dovecot Sieve spam filter question.
Hi, I'd like to make a filtering threshold for users to let them deal with spamassassin spam-level starred < 8 themselves, but spam-level starred higher than 8 should be discarded how can one do that with the "anyof" option ? the following doesn't work with a test email with "gtube", which scores > 999 : # require "fileinto"; if header :matches

Odd Feature Request - RBL blacklist lookup to prevent authentication
I would like to have a list of IPs (hacker list) that I can do a lookup on so that if anyone tries to authenticate to dovecot they always fail if they are on my list. I have the list - and the list is available as a DNS blacklist. I'd like to have it work with both local IP lists or RBL lookup. The idea is so hackers from known IP addresses never succeed. If Dovecot provides the feature

rsync 2.4.6 hanging on HPUX11 only over firewall.
We are running rsync 2.4.6 on HPUX-11and using it to push a document-root from a staging area to several servers running rsync in daemon mode. The rsync client syncs successfully to modules on the same server and to most other machines, but hangs when trying to syncronise across a firewall (from SECURE zone to DMZ) (The firewall port IS OPEN!!) During a normal release where there are rougly

ACLs - creating new top level folders
Hi, I'm wondering, whether it's possible, to define an ACL on the mailbox itself. We use Dovecot 1.2.15 (included in Debian 6) and maildir filesystem layout: /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/new \ /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/cur Inbox /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/tmp / /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/new \ /home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/cur folder1

LMTP : Can't handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations
Hello, In my current setup, I uses two mailservers to handle the users connections, and my emails are stored on a distant server using NFS (maildir architecture) Dovecot is both my IMAP server and the delivery agent (LMTP via postfix) To avoid indexing issues related to NFS, proxying is enabled both on IMAP and LMTP. But when a mail is sent to users that are shared between the servers, I got the

Buildling with/without AddressSanitizer causes divergent execution behaviour
Hi, # TL;DR I've been building an application with and without the address sanitizer (with gcc 5.3 and clang 3.7.1) and I've observed that the application's behaviour changes (assertion hit/ not hit). I'm wondering if this could be a bug in address sanitizer or if the application I'm running is just buggy (e.g. doing bad things like relying on memory layout, etc.). I'm
