Problem with squid+ntlm+samba
Hello,
I'm having a little problem after logging into domain via samba, after a few minutes the squid no longer authenticates the users through single sign on and keeps asking for authentication in the browser without stopping.
below is my settings and error logs.

error using pvcm() on unbalanced panel data
Dear all
I am trying to fit Variable Coefficients Models on Unbalanced Panel
Data. I managed to fit such models on balanced panel data (the example
from the "plm" vignette), but I failed to do so on my real, unbalanced
panel data.
I can reproduce the error on a modified example from the vignette:
> require(plm)
> data("Hedonic")
> Hed <- pvcm(mv ~ crim + zn + indus

Problem with the step() function
Dear all,
I'm having some problems with using the step() function inside another
function. I think it is an environment problem but I do not know how to
overcome it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I've prepared a simple example to illustrate my problem:
> library(MASS)
> data(Boston)
> my.fun <- function(dataset) {
+ l <- lm(medv ~ .,data=dataset)
+ final.l <-

Use of cache_peer login=username:password
I'm running squid 2.6.11 on FreeBSD with a parent cache that requires
authentication in order to access any web sites.
It's been suggested to us by the department that runs the upstream cache that we
can make some sites accessible without the client having to authenticate by
getting our local squid to supply the username & password to the upstream cache
for those sites.

how to seperate " "? or how to do regression on each variable when I have multiple variables?
Dear All,
I have data which contains 14 variables. And I have to regress one of
variables on each variable (simple 13 linear regressions)
I try to make a loop and store only R-squared

Hello,
We would like more information on how to install

User-defined functions in rpart
This question concerns rpart's facility for user-defined functions that
accomplish splitting.
I was interested in modifying the code so that in each terminal node,
a linear regression is fit to the data.
It seems that from the allowable inputs in the user-defined functions,
that this may not be possible, since they have the form:
function(y, wt, parms) (in the case of the

ntlm authentication issues
Hi,
I set up Squid 4.6 on Debian 10 and I'm having problems with browser
authentication on a Windows station.
I did the tests on the command line and apparently it's OK.

Method dispatch S3/S4 through optimize()
I have been running into difficulties with dispatching on an S4 class
defined in the SparseM package, when the method calls are inside a
function passed as the f= argument to optimize() in functions in the spdep
package. The S4 methods are typically defined as:
setMethod("det","matrix.csr", function(x, ...) det(chol(x))^2)
that is within setMethod() rather than by name before

mlbench dataset question
Dear R-users,
Recently, I am facing some problems when converting mlbench data into matrix
format.
library(mlbench)
data(BostonHousing)
X<- BostonHousing[,1:13]
y<-BostonHousing[,14]
I want to convert X and y into matrix form. I am getting these obvious
errors...
> t(X)%*%y
Error in t(X) %*% y : requires numeric/complex matrix/vector arguments
> t(as.matrix(X))%*%(as.matrix(y))

how to evaluate the significance of attributes in tree gr owing
FWIW, I wrote a little function to extract variable importance as defined in
the CART book a while ago. It's rather limited: Only works for regression
problem, and you need to set maxsurrogate=0 and maxcompete=0. It may (or
may not) help you:
varimp.rpart <- function(x) {
dev <- x$frame[, c("var", "dev")]
dev <- dev[dev$var != "<leaf>",

Error: child 469 (imap) killed with signal 6 (with rc25)
I updated to the latest rc25 and started getting these messages(over and
over again). This is on a Solaris 10 box and I tried compiling with gcc
and sun c. I backed down to rc23 and the messages went away and
everything works. Any body have an idea on what could be wrong?
thank you

yum through a squid proxy
Hello,
I've got a centos5 box that is now behind a what was transparent squid
proxy. The proxy now has it's own dedicated ip and uses proxy basic
authentication. I've got a firewall that redirects all outgoing port 80
traffic to that ip so anyone wishing access goes proxied. The problem is yum
on my centos5 can't retrieve the .xml files for the various yum
repositories. In

Constrained regression
Dear list members,
I am trying to get information on how to fit a linear regression with
constrained parameters. Specifically, I have 8 predictors , their
coeffiecients should all be non-negative and add up to 1. I understand it is
a quadratic programming problem but I have no experience in the subject. I
searched the archives but the results were inconclusive.
Could someone provide suggestions

[PATCH] Translate asm version of ELFNOTE macro into preprocessor macro
Hi,
I've come across some problems with the assembly version of the ELFNOTE
macro currently in -mm. (in
x86-put-note-sections-into-a-pt_note-segment-in-vmlinux.patch)
The first is that older gas does not support :varargs in .macro
definitions (in my testing 2.17 does while 2.15 does not, I don't know
when it became supported). The Changes file says binutils >= 2.12 so I
think we need

I'll release v1.0.1 in a day or two, but it would be nice to get some
testing before the release to see if I managed to break something after
the Mercurial conversion. And did I forget something that should be
fixed for v1.0.1?
