Strange IPv6 in FreeBSD 9.1RC1
HI Folks, I've got two boxes that I recently moved from -stable to 9.1rc1. I did them one at a time, with about a week between the upgrades. After the first upgrade, I noticed something strange with networking but didn't really dig into it much. After the second upgrade immediately experiencing the same issues, I figured it seemed to be something related to 9.1rc1. What I am finding

FreeBSD 8.4-RC2 Now Available
The second RC build of the 8.4-RELEASE release cycle is now available on the FTP servers for the amd64, i386, and pc98 architectures. The SHA256/MD5 sums are tacked on to the bottom of this message. The ISO images and, for architectures that support it, the memory stick images are available here: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/ISO-IMAGES/8.4/ (or any of the FreeBSD mirror sites).

FreeBSD 9.1 + Samba 3.6.12 : Winbind sid lookup issue
Hey Samba list. We recently had to switch from 3.5.x to 3.6, due to the ports tree dropping 3.5 Since then, I've have had issues with the looking up users consistently. It may work for 30 minutes, and then stop. I finally started to run winbindd -i -d and here are some of my findings: Environment: OS: FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE uname -a: FreeBSD pkg-server 9.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE #0

FreeBSD 9.1 won't boot with a graid error
Hi everybody. I've just upgraded a box from FreeBSD 9 to 9.1 via freebsd-update. At the first reboot, the machine stopped with messages about GRAID : GEOM_RAID: Promise: Subdisk kjihgfedcba`_^]\[ZYXWVUTSRQPONM:0-ada0 state changed from NONE to ACTIVE The trick is that I've never setup any kind of RAID on that old box... Is there a way to completely disable GEOM_RAID loading on boot ?

FreeBSD 9.1-BETA1 amd64 fails to mount ZFS rootfs with error 2 when system has more than 3584MB of RAM
Dear Everyone, I am running FreeBSD 9.1-BETA1 amd64 on ZFS in KVM on Gentoo Linux on ZFS. The root pool uses ashift=13 and is on a single disk. The kernel fails to mount the root filesystem if the system has more than 3584MB of RAM. I did a manual binary search to try to find the exact upper limit, but stopped when I tried 3648MB. FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE works perfectly. Yours truly, Richard Yao

FreeBSD 9.1 stability/robustness?
I need to build up a few servers and routers, and am wondering how FreeBSD 9.1 is shaping up. Will it be likely to be more stable and robust than 9.0-RELEASE? Are there issues that will have to wait until 9.2-RELEASE to be fixed? Opinions welcome. --Brett Glass
