memdisk speed diagnostics?
Would it be a usefull addition to memdisk's "pause" parameter if it
showed the loading speed for the specified disk image file?
The idea is to verify if a device is really loading an operating
system's data at the intended device/controller/interface/bus (etc)
speed. My own system has a habit of setting usb2.0 interface to
1.1-speeds for example.

Hi,
thanks for writing cptime, after manually adding it to the Makefile of a
lwip git checkout it compiled fine (same about prdhcp) (only isohybrid
complained about a missing uuid/uuid.h)...
I have a 64bit VM with VMXNET3 and go there this result:

Compaq V2000 laptop no USB recognized
To continue here with problems on this compaq v2000
laptop, I put kernel source on a USB disk and plugged it
into the v2000. NOTHING IS recognized.
I tried to manually mount the disk and nothing either...
I thought USB was well established....
I thought trying to recompile the kernel for realtek support
might get my networking going...
I am stuck???

problems with usb stick after suspend and wake up
Dear all,
(please Cc)
I am running latest kernel (3.17-rc6) and I see corruption of an usb3.0
device usb stick. Strange errors, impossibility to mount.
Repeated unplugging and replugging helps sometimes, in all cases
recovery is necessary.
Is this a know problem, a problem of my system
Debian/sid, uptodate, self-compiled kernel
of the suspend program (that initiates the suspend),

USB card reader causing qemu-kvm SEGV's
Hi.
I have a Supermicro 5018D-FN4T (Xeon D-1541 based SBC) that I use for virtualization. I?m running Centos 7.3 on it (updated), with the CentOS-QEMU-EV.repo repository as the source for virtualization packages.
I run an Ubuntu 16.04-2 guest VM on it, which is ordinary enough. What?s perhaps less ordinary is that I?ve attached a Lexar Media, Inc. ?Lexar Professional Workflow CR1 CFast 2.0 USB

Standardized Benchmarking?
Hello all,
I'm creating a site where people can share their benchmarks. If you are
interested, the site is at (I just started on it so it has the stock
graphics and color scheme still):
www.dcsnow.com/mambo
I would like some thoughts on what would be a good way to standardize the
testing so the results are more comparable. Is Bonnie+ a good program for
hard drive speed testing? Is there

syslinux 4.06pre11 issues
I've recently purchased an SSD with the goal of having a portable
MS-Windows installation, something which Windows 8's "Windows to Go"
feature allows (install to, and boot/run from, USB flash device).
Housing the SSD in an external Zalman VE300 case allows presenting ISO
files as hardware CD/DVD/BD drive with inserted medium. Having the ISO
files present, it's tempting

boot... round 2
I applied the patch Gene wrote here:
https://github.com/triton/nixpkgs/commit/06e146b2ce5eaaa54ebea061dd5797f89ae2c37c
The tree after that commit is entirely based on gcc5. In order to do a test
with gcc4.9, I reverted:
https://github.com/triton/nixpkgs/commit/8ccc1f121f379f4d66ce0a66f581c49d25fb4e15#diff-d7222640d82ff920625e9311d05a0137
and then built two images, one entirely based on gcc4.9

Centos6: Boot from usb 3.0
Hi all,
I'm booting Centos6 from a usb 3.0 stick.
This works fine as long as the usb-stick is connected to a usb 2.0 port.
Once I plug the the usb-stick into a blue usb 3.0 port centos fails on
mounting the root filesystem.
Any hints on that?

RFC:documents for new modules; Interest in rewriting exiting documentation
I'm interested in redoing doc/syslinux.txt into 2 AsciiDoc documents,
splitting configuration from command.
First, however, I'm requesting comments on my recent documentation of
several modules I have written. My goal is to be clear, concise, and
complete. Acknowledgements and constructive comments are welcome. If
it would help to also post converted copies of these documents (HTML,

Help With Installation to USB Stick
Recently, I was able to create a workable Centos 4.4 "Live USB" on my 1G Lexar Firefly pendrive using the steps in http://linux.web.psi.ch/livecd/usbdisk.html. At the moment, it is doing its job, so I probably won't focus too much more on it. One thing that is annoying, although doesn't cause a problem is that on powerdown and reboot, the cd rom drive ejects - of course, there
