testers needed for CAM INVARIANTS fix
I've got a fix for the panic from the cd(4)/da(4) drivers when INVARIANTS is turned on in -stable. The fix is to create a task queue that runs in a thread context and use that to create the sysctl variables needed by cd(4) and da(4). The eventual fix will be to move the CAM transport layer probe code into a kernel thread. Anyway, these patches work for me, but if I could get some feedback

USB ports on Lenovo T400 do not work after a suspend/resume
Hi, FreeBSD-9 works fine on this Lenovo T400 - except that suspending with no USB devices plugged in result in no ports working after resume. If I have a device plugged in during suspend - on any port - then all the ports work fine after resume. I've attached usbconfig and acpidump output. here's what is logged in the kernel buffer during suspend and resume: Her'es the suspend:

FreeBSD 10 & default_vsz_limit causing reboots?
Ok, So this is really more of an observation than anything else.? I had a FreeBSD 10.1 server that was running great. Some SSL issue came up, or I upgrade Dovecot in ports - something occurred and the machine started rebooting randomly.? It would run for 2 weeks, then reboot.? It might run for 5 days and then reboot. So I started doing more FreeBSD upgrades, thinking it was a kernel issue. The

FreeBSD 10 Beta 2: make installkernel failure with installer provided ZFS configuration.
Hi, I was trying to rebuild world on a FreeBSD 10 test system, that I had just installed. ZFS root was setup. I let the installation program do all the ZFS setup and configuration. I put root on a 5 disk encrypted raidz array. Besides the installer configuring 5 times the amount of swap space I asked for (asked for 8gb, installer put 8gb on each drive, for 40gb in total.) everything was working

out of HDD space - zfs degraded
Overnight I was running a zfs send | zfs receive (both within the same system / zpool). The system ran out of space, a drive went off line, and the system is degraded. This is a raidz2 array running on FreeBSD 8.1-STABLE #0: Sat Sep 18 23:43:48 EDT 2010. The following logs are also available at http://www.langille.org/tmp/zfs-space.txt <- no line wrapping This is what was running: #

Anyone successfully using a HP 8000 DN (with JetDirect module and IP) with samba?
Anyone successfully using a HP 8000 DN or HP 5 Lsi (with JetDirect module and assigned IP) with samba? Subject says it all. If you're successfully doing this, what configs made it work? FAQs tell how to set up with a print server, but what if the printer itself is the server? Trust me, the HP doesn't know jack about port 139. Using samba 2.0.4 on Solaris 7 and NT 4.0 SP5 with

Linux DoS attack through autoprobing
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- The autodetection routines for some linux modules can tie up the machine for several seconds at a time. By trying to open devices not present on the machine, a local user can disrupt service considerably. A very simple exploit is victim$ ls /dev/*/* repeatedly. A suggested fix is to remove or chmod 0 device nodes for hardware not installed on the

SSD becomes detached 9.2
Hello, I am setting up a new (remote) server. I initially installed 9.2 RC4 amd64 because that's what the data center put in the drive for me. Shortly thereafter I downloaded 9.2-STABLE sources and compiled world and a generic kernel. While doing so the system became unreachable by SSH The SSH sessions appeared to connect but there was never any data returned. I could telnet to port 22

FreeBSD 10 & default_vsz_limit causing reboots?
Update.? Only a single reboot has occurred since changing defalt_vsz_limit from 384M to 512M.? It would seem that something the users are doing is causing that virtual memory size to be exceeded (possibly a mailbox search?), and when that occurs Dovecot/FreeBSD is not handling the event as smoothly as expected. Here's my dmesg for more basic info. Sep 17 11:25:39 romulus syslogd: kernel boot

The wierd part is that it's very sudden when it happens... ntp sometimes brings it back, but it can't when the clock gets too far ahread (1000 seconds), ntp dies... In order to catch it happening, I ran a sleep 60 loop

nforce2 usb is broken on -stable
Hi All, I'm running stable from August 19/2003. I've got a few A7N8X-Deluxe boards. One Rev1.0 and two Rev2.0. While the 1.0 board works, the 2.0 boards lock up on boot during the uhub0 bus discovery. It's extremely frustrating :) ... While I can boot without the devices and attach them later, the devices ( logitech usb keyboard, logitech mouse, rio800, samsung CDMA adapter,

ahcich reset -> cannot mount zfs root in 9.1-PRE
Hi all, Trying to upgrade a system from 9.0-RELEASE to 9.1-PRE from yesterday on my machine (GEOM+ZFS mirror setup on ada[01]p3), the new kernel becomes unable to mount root... The only way to recover is to boot from 9.0 kernel. The disks were already named ada[01] in 9.0, so I suspect nothing there... I tried - disabling AHCI in bios (no change seen) - change cables, check PSU, test disks
