ipconfig:About the length of 'options' field of DHCP packet
Hi,
I had the problem that 'ipconfig' as DHCP client in Debian-squeeze could not get
DHCP Offer reply from the built-in DHCP server of the cheap route that I have.
The name of the router is 'MegaBitGear TE4571E' which
I got at contract of ADSL Internet access service in 2009.
The router is not too old and can reply to other
DHCP clients like ISC-dhclient, WindowsXP and Vista.

[patch] ipconfig add dhcp file preseeding support
From: Geert Stappers <stappers at debian.org>
To make klibc-ipconfig transmit the DHCP vendor class "d-i"
and get the DHCP preseeding filename in a text file, it needs the
attached patch.
belows patch allows ipconfig to be used in Debian installer once
the hostname is sent too, see

ipconfig: DHCP fixes
Hi,
Here are two fixes for ipconfig/dhcp, the second of them being required for my
dhcp3 server to accept ipconfig's requests.
Thanks,

DHCP_HOSTNAME in ifcfg-eth0
Hello
Is there a way for the dhcp client to send the current host name of the
machine when requesting a lease ?
Currently I have to include a line like
DHCP_HOSTNAME=appserver2
in my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, but I would like to
tell the dhcp client to just 'also send the hostname' and then the
client to get the current hostname itself, instead of having the name

dhclient.conf being ignored!
It seems that the prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor has decided that dhclient.conf
should be ignored, i.e. ifup-eth causes dhclient to be called with "-cf
/etc/dhclient-$(DEVICE).conf", and then ifup-eth/ifdown-eth wipes the file out each time.
Through the use of "DHCP_HOSTNAME" in ifcfg-eth0 you can specify a host name, but because of the
above behavior of

dhcp-client should send hostname to dhcp/ dns server
Hallo,
what is the right way in centos7 to configure the dhcp-client so that
the system name is send to the dhcp/dns server (windows-domain).
I found
DHCP_HOSTNAME="Hostname"
as entry in the device-config of the network-interface.
Thanks for hints

The Windows sysadmins claim I don't need a fixed IP address, because DNS

[PATCH] ipconfig: handle multiple interfaces correctly
When configuring multiple interfaces, the existing logic in
ipconfig can fail if DHCP replies are received out of the expected order,
or if one or more interfaces never receive replies.
The current ipconfig logic uses a single packet socket to handle
all incoming DHCP replies. If, for example, the host has two interfaces,
A and B, and only B will be sent a DHCP reply, the order of events goes

anaconda/kickstart: bonding device not created as expected
Hi,
I am currently struggling with the right way to configure a bonding
device via kickstart (via PXE).
I am installing servers which have "eno" network interfaces. Instead of
the expected bonding device with two active slaves (bonding mode is
balance-alb), I get a bonding device with only one active slave and an
independent, non-bonded network device. Also the bonding device

XEN multiple bridge problem - VM won' start!
Hi,
I've been using CentOS & Xen on a server that has 2 VM's configured. The
default configuration includes one physical iface that is propagated (by a
default bridge) to the VM's.
Since I wanted to configure additional physical iface, define a new bridge
and propagate it to the viface-s of the VM's, i configured the bridge/phys.
iface and brought it up (here are
