OLPC project
The One Laptop Per Child project is now including a digital camera in the design of their "$100" laptop computer. According to their latest news, this device will record video at 30 fps and at VGA resolution. Also, the OLPC project is considering using content from WikiMedia, and video files at WikiMedia are stored in ogg theora format. Have folks involved in the OLPC project

Fwd: Re: [Olpc-open] XO review & Theora
As far as video playback is concerned, it seems to mostly come down to
how the video is compressed - although Gnash (the open flash player)
still has a ways to go to play flash media as well as the closed source
flash players.
For the Colingo activity and library, we've found it very difficult to
find optimum settings for flash and instead have decided to go with
Theora. We've managed to

vmx+ssh conversion failure -- read failed: would block
Hi,
I noticed some issues with the ssh transport mode where the virt-v2v
would fail because of issue with libssh2. I see a lot of following
errors before the conversion terminates:
> commandrvf: /usr/sbin/update-initramfs -v -c -k 4.9.0-4-amd64
> read failed: would block (libssh2 error code: -37, sftp error code: 0)

CyberPower on OpenIndiana
Hello,
I have a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD and I'm trying to get nut to see it under OpenIndiana. All search online suggested that it basically can't happen, but I decided to ask again, maybe things have changed since then.
The UPS can be seen by the system:
# /usr/sbin/cfgadm -lv usb9/1.1

Problem with new cube and scale with ini
I think I have a slight problem with the new hookable plugins
and the ini plugin.
I haven't looked into it too much, but the plugins use an option to
store their abi version. This value is stored so that when the cube/scale
plugins are updated it will not be changed and things will not work.
Do we need some sort of flag to tell ini not to save these options? I
assume that it is OK for

The XO laptop from the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program
There was recently a question on the R-help list about the eee pc. I
had a related question about the XO laptop from OLPC (laptop.org).
Has anyone looked at the development environment sufficiently to
determine if it would be possible to create an executable image for R?
The laptop itself only supports Python, Javascript, etc. but it is
running a real Linux operating system.

Theora and OLPC
Hi guys,
My name is Adir. I'm a Google Summer of Code student, and in addition to
that I will be working both with Xiph.org and with OLPC on optimizing
Theora's performance.
I'm in the list to get a shiny B4, but at the moment I can't do anything
since sending the laptop to my place involves some difficulties. Until I get
the laptop, I would like to hear from any of you, XO users

Installing from source (git, hg) on a fresh debian box
Oye 3 days on this now, my head hurts. I have spent what seems like 40
hours in the last 3 or 4 days reading, and I realize xen is in the
middle of this transition of getting into mainline kernel, issues with
dom0 etc etc.
Ok, so i have come across a few howtos/tutorials on installing xen
dom0 kernel, using git to download a patched? kernel tree, and getting
xen source from mercurial. Below is my

In WineXO, how to change drive_c location?
Hi, people!
Because XO-1 has a little "disk" space, it will be nice if
the location of drive_c can be moved to a SD card.
Here in Uruguay, we do not have root permissions in our XO-1.
We log in as user olpc an can change permissions only in some
directories.
And can create links to files but not hard links to directories.
The SD card is mounted in /media/label_of_sd_card.
I appreciate

initrd / initramfs future
Hello,
I would like to know if initrd is here to stay, now that klibc and
initramfs are ready.
As the multipath-tools maintainer, I'm facing the choice to
1) put the multipath configuration tool in the initrd
* dynamic binary is possible
* storage hba drivers as modules loaded
* no klibc limitations (no mntent for libsysfs ...)
2) put the multipath configuration tool in the initramfs

Building CentOS 6.2 custom install media
Hi,
For the OLPC school server ("XS") we are planning to move from our
dated F9 setup to CentOS 6.2. Thanks for all the effort involved in
producing this distro.
One important part of this project is a 'respin' of the install media
- we need to add a handful of packages from external repositories, and
maybe run a command late in the install.
Are the scripts/configurations used

Feedback on Listing at teachingopensource.org
Hello Xapian Developers,
I am writing with feedback on your Help Wanted listing at
teachingopensource.org, specifically
http://www.teachingopensource.org/index.php/Help_Wanted:_Xapian
Overall, I think your project listing looks very well done. On your ideas
page, you haven't done a lot to sell/market each idea. Why is development of
this specific project going to improve Xapian overall? How

Bug#423006: Workaround OK
Hi.
FYI, the proposed workaround in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420754#5 helps solve
the issue.
I've patched /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions, then issued :
mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.18-4-xen-686 2.6.18-4-xen-686
After that : the lib/ in the initrd image contains the libcrypt.so.1
lib ...
As to know why sh needs libcrypt.so... it seems weird to me
