CentOS 5.8, Adaptec 6405 but lsmod lists dmraid?
Hi I have (actaully on a number of machines) various Adaptec card installed, yet lsmod shows "dmraid" loaded? How come? I thought that dmraid is software raid? Is this part of the booting and if so How do I tell mkinitrd NOT to make it part of the bootup process? Bug#566107: logcheck-database: with violations.d/logcheck empty most rules in violations.ignore.d look useless
Package: logcheck-database Version: 1.3.5 Severity: normal Hi, I was having a look at logcheck and why I received a "verification failed: Temporary failure in name resolution" as a _system_ message. Turns out that since violations.d/logcheck is empty now, most of the rules in violations.ignore.d look quite useless, can you confirm? I suspect that a big part of those rules should be

compare st_mode & 07777, or Aix dirs always differ
Under Aix directories have the mode 024xxxx instead of the customary 04xxxx. Because of this when you sync a directory to or from an Aix system it's never up to date. Here is a patch which fixes this. It causes rsync to look at only the bits that chmod actually influences, 07777, when deciding whether or not the modes differ. I was surprised there wasn't an existing constant for 07777,

File Offsets for SCP (patch)
I don't know if anyone would be interested in this but I'm including a patch to allow for offsets when transferring files with SCP. It's pretty simple and assumes the user knows what they are doing (for example, if transferring with a wild card the offset would apply to all files). -A is the number of bytes offset from the beginning of the files. -Z is the number of bytes inset

Centos 5 install on BIOS RAID ie. dmraid M/B
I am experiencing hangs on the Keyboard Lang selection screen in GUI Mode install on a M/B setup with Intel BIOS SATA RAID. Workaround is to use 'linux nodmraid' switch which disables visibility of RAID volumes during drive detection of Disk Druid. Has anyone else tried this config without workarounds and success? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

[PATCH] Support symlinks in scp of openssh 2
I'm fond of the "-a" (archive) option of cp, and I'm a heavy user of scp, so I guess it's inevitable that I would eventually add support for "-a" to scp. :-) Actually, it's a "-L" flag for preserving symlinks, and a "-a" flag that is shorthand for "-Lpr". Please let me know if I'm not doing this right.... I made a great

CentOS 5 Dual Drive Confusion
I performed a test install of CentOS Beta 5 on a system with two ~60 GB drives. When installing CentOS 4 on this system, I normally work thru setting up Software RAID with identically sized partitions on each drive. For my test, the CentOS installer only presented a single drive. I took the default of letting it do what it wanted. After looking over the system I have verified that /boot is
