klibc kbuild status
Hi hpa & others. Following is a list of issues that I hope to be addressed soon so we are in even better shape for -mm inclusion. 1) rebuild initramfs when content changes. > It is a simple matter of copying in usr/Makefile from the latest > -linus kernel and replace the 10 first lines with the content from > klibc Kbuild file. 2) havesyscalls.h is not deleted after make

[PATCH/RFC] klibc/kbuild: use separate kbuild files for each klibc subdirectory
This fixes a long standing issue where it was not possible to do "make usr/klibc/arch/x86_64/longjmp.o" in the kernel. The principle is that all .o files to be part of klibc are listed with klib-y. For each directory a klib.list file is made that specify all .o file and the final AR then adds all .o files to create libc.a. This patch introduce the infrastructure and converts x86_64 to

kbuild updates to klibc
Hi Peter & others. Here are three patches that does the following: #1 - Update kbuild part of klibc so make clean works Adds gzip including a sample kbuild file #2 - Factor out definition of usr/ to two variables #3 - Move kbuild files to reflect location in the kernel As requested in earlier mail I need a bit of guidiance of what you expect from the kernel integrated parts of klibc.

kbuild improvements for klibc
Hi all. I have pushed my earlier announced kbuild improvements patch to: bk://linux-sam.bkbits.net/2.5-klibc First cset is the earlier posted cset, whit a few small modifications. One important change is that the usr/Makefile now uses *.a files in initramfs-y assignment. I realised that the purpose was to express what kinit were using / referring. Second cset is a trivial cset that just move

[PATCH] better kbuild integration
Following patch improves integration with kbuild. With a future kernel (2.6.14-rc) it now has working support for 'make clean'. Included is an example of how to compile an early userspace program. I selected gzip as the most simple one for this - and left out all the links to different names (gunzip etc.) Before proceeding with this I need some inputs on what functionality is required by

Kbuild dash headers generation
hello Sam, tried to sync current git dash for klibc, but failed on this Kbuild step. The attached patch can be applied with the following: git am --directory="usr/dash" --exclude="usr/dash/configure.ac" \ --exclude="usr/dash/ChangeLog" --exclude="usr/dash/dash.1" \ --exclude="usr/dash/Makefile.am"

Shared versus static linked executables - and strip
I'm still pondering with kbuild and klibc. Next in line was to get ipconfig support in the kernel (build wise). A little challenge that is bigger than anticipated was to create a shared executable. This required a far bigger rewrite of Kbuild.klibc than originally planned. The good part is that I now managed to treat linking of objects with single and multiple .o files almost the same.

Fw: kbuild: fix gen_initramfs_list.sh
Hi hpa. This change is obviously valid for your integrated kernel-klibc tree. But it may result in some manual merge. [PATCH] klibc: fix gen_initramfs_init.sh when using -d
gen_initramfs_list.sh failed to generate a dependency list when it was supplied the -d option. Restructured gen_initramfs_list.sh to support dependency info with -d. This also fixes a bug where we did not properly process when more than one dir was specified. Finally update dependency info for the -d case (list_default_initramfs) In usr/Kbuild remove "" around CONFIG_RAMFS_SOURCE so the

klibc integration status
Hi, Greg - I have a 2.5.70 BK repository, with klibc integrated, at: bk://klibc.bkbits.net/2.5-klibc This repo has the following features: * Completely up-to-date w.r.t. klibc itself. * Kbuild sort of happy, but still needs an eyeball from Kai to figure out why it always rebuilds everything in usr/. * Supports both IP autoconfig and NFS root from initramfs.

[PATCH klibc 1/3] Revert " Kbuild: Tell gas we don't want executable stacks"
This reverts commit 9d8d648e604026b32cad00a84ed6c29cbd157641, which broke signal handing on some architectures. On m68k and parisc, signal return depends on a trampoline that the kernel writes on the stack. On alpha, s390, and sparc (32-bit), we can avoid this by providing our own function as sa_restorer, but we currently don't. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben at decadent.org.uk>

klibc integrated in the kernel
This seem to be a good timing taking up the integration of klibc in the kernel again. Based one klibc-0.152 and klibc.bkbits.net/2.5-klibc I will take a shot of it. I will focus on getting the library compiled (should be pretty straighforward). Next two steps are: 2) Adding minimum applications to the kernel (if any) 3) Support applications outside the kernel I will put my work on bkbits.net

building debug version of klibc
Hello! Can someone please help me in building debug version of klibc ? I've cloned git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/klibc/klibc.git , but failed to build it with debug info added "-g" to HOSTCFLAGS in Makefile, but $ make -j KLIBCKERNELSRC=`pwd`/../linux-2.6/usr still strips every debug symbol , and i'm failed to change scripts/Kbuild.klibc and Makefile to remove strip
