[PATCH 0/4] usr/kinit checkpatch
Various coding style fixes checkpatch warns about.
The goal is not to be 100% checkpatch compliant,
but to have more consistent coding style.
As this is a trivial patch serie, will land in 24 hours in klibc git,
unless of course ml review hits a bugger.
Checked with size(3) that the generated kinit, fstype, ipconfig and
nfsmount are the same.

[PATCH] nfsmount: memset uses sizeof pointer as length
gcc picked up a couple of suspicious memset lengths which turned
out to be real bugs.

klibc: kbuild improvements
Hi Bryan and other klibc people.
I have taken a stamp on the Makefiles for klibc, this is what
I came up with.
1) No longer recompile on every invocation
2) Correct checking on dependencies
3) Simpler makefile syntax (almost all over the place)
I compile-time tested it only.
Two open issues:
a) Do we realy use .a files for initramfs. I renemed that to the
executable.
b) I renamed

networking problems in kinit
Hi all,
I need UDP support in kinit. But when I did the implementation I ran into some
fundamental problems, maybe someone can help me.
First, the description what I did so far:
The network interface itself has been configured by 'do_ipconfig'
with a static configuration from the kernel cmdline:
ip=192.168.1.100:192.168.1.200:192.168.1.254:255.255.255.0::eth0:

do_fileinfo / file.info test for file IS directory during package load pointlessly stresses NIS by getting username / group info
*Summary:
*
During package loading the library function calls file.info to determine if
a file is a directory. This uselessly invokes getpwuid and getgrgid which
can be expensive if the user/group database are held on a network.
Note that file_test ALSO uses file.info for the same purpose
Suggest rebuilding file_test to use ‘stat’ based call for directory search,
and using file_test in

nmbd dying
nmbd has been dying on me occasionally. I'm running mandrake 9.2 with
samba3-server-3.0.0-2mdk. We've got our users in ldap but I'd seen this
symptom previously when I was using an earlier version of samba that didn't
support ldap. There is nothing useful in the logs and a PS shows a nmb
process still running.
This last time around, I had a ptrace running on both nmbd

[PATCH 1/3] nfsmount.h: Add missing definitions.
linux-2.6 2ad780978b7c0c3e7877949f098cbd06e7c73839 cleaned up
linux/nfsmount.h and thus a klibc build would produce this:

> usr/kinit/nfsmount/mount.c:179: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once

Rsync hanging, even with timeout and contimeout specified
Here's the details and some debugging I did for starters, but I have no
idea where to proceed from here. Help please? Command to reproduce should
be in the strace output below.

P.S. Sorry for sending this a few times; I think only one will make it
through to the list since I wasn't subscribed initially.

[PATCH] Force mountd(8) to a specified port.
Hi all,
I have a requirement to run NFS read-only in an Internet-facing colocation
environment. I am not happy with packet filters alone around rpcbind, call
me paranoid, so I just spent the last few minutes cutting this patch.
As you are aware, RPC applications can be forced to listen on a known port
through the sin/sa argument to bindresvport[_sa](). Why several Linux
distributions have this

[PATCH] use reliable nfs mount options per default
Peter,
we found that nfs over udp will corrupt data under very extrem load,
there is no way to fix it due to the way how UDP works.
TCP will not have these problems.
I also wonder why the package size is only 1k. Everyone who wishes a
slow connection can pass the desired options via the kernel cmdline.
Everyone else prefers probably the fast mount.
The defaults should look more like that:

tftpd-hpa can't reopen /dev/log
Hi,
here is an example of tftpd-hpa running in daemon mode failing to
reopen /dev/log. No wonder, as it tries after chrooting.
Cheers,
Feri.

rsync failure with error 12
I am running rsync over a VPN. The connection has been stable for some
time, but recently it has started failing. I am including the strace of
the failure below. Basically, the client disconnects typically with an
error 12. I have 3 other clients using the same openvpn/rsync
configuration, and those are stable, so I am fairly confident this is
something on this particular link.

Broken pipe, x86_64 CentOS 5.2
Hi All,
I have a problem with torque (openPBS) on x86_64 CentOS 5.2. Just to add there's
no problem on a 32bit CentOS 5.2 or 64bit Ubuntu 8.04.
The problem is that pbs_mom's child quits without giving any error logs.

Error while waiting for input: Bad file descriptor
Hello,
Thanks to recent fix of 'Failed to decrypt and verify packet' issue by Etienne, I decided to upgrade tinc on a few nodes.
I had to go back to 1.1pre9 immediately because tinc on my laptop didn't survive the restart of other nodes. It aborted with the following message:
Error while waiting for input: Bad file descriptor
I could reproduce the issue. Here is strace output:

Dovecot versus libsafe 2.0.15
Hi,
I encountered a problem using Dovecot (todays CVS, 11/10/2005) with
libsafe, systemwide install. Dovecot silently dies.
Here is the end of the systrace output I got:

sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}}, 16) = 0
getsockname(6, {sin_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(143),
sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}}, [16]) = 0
