ia64 mis-merge
Peter, There was a mis-merge in the ia64 patch you put into 0.83. Olaf Hering pointed it out. The patch is attached. Olaf claims that he is still unable to compile for ia64 with is toolchain. He's getting the following error: <olh> libc.so(.got+0x0): multiple definition of `_GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_' <olh> tests/getenvtest.o(.got.plt+0x0): first defined here <olh>

[klibc 00/31] klibc as a historyless patchset (updated and reorganized)
I have updated the klibc patchset based on feedback received. In particular, the patchset has been reorganized so as not to break git-bisect. Additionally, this updates the patch base to 2.6.17-git12 (d38b69689c349f35502b92e20dafb30c62d49d63) and klibc 1.4.8; the main difference on the klibc side is removal of obsolete code. Fix syscalls with more than four arguments on parisc
Reimplement __common_syscall in assembler. The 32-bit ABI says that the fifth and sixth arguments to the function are passed on the stack, but our syscall ABI says they are passed in %arg4 and %arg5 like the 64-bit ABI. Also, tried to optimize the code slightly by making use of the cmpb delay slot to load the errno return of -1. Signed-off-by: Kyle McMartin <kyle@parisc-linux.org> diff

supporting --fake-super on opensolaris (zfs) destination
Hello everybody. I wrote a small patch in order to support what I think is an absolutely needed feature in order to make rsync-based backups retaining complete ownership permission when writing to an opensolaris machine using --fake-super. My goal is making backups of linux boxes to opensolaris/zfs. In order to make it work just do patch -p1 < patch_file.txt inside rsync source tree. and

klibc: kbuild improvements
Hi Bryan and other klibc people. I have taken a stamp on the Makefiles for klibc, this is what I came up with. 1) No longer recompile on every invocation 2) Correct checking on dependencies 3) Simpler makefile syntax (almost all over the place) I compile-time tested it only. Two open issues: a) Do we realy use .a files for initramfs. I renemed that to the executable. b) I renamed

ARM/Thumb updates and some other minor tweaks
The attached patches are against the v0.114 release and cover some of the tweaks I made while playing about testing ARM and Thumb support. Please review and consider applying. Even with the patches, ARM dynamic linking doesn't seem to work and the Thumb test applications seem to have shaken out a Thumb bug in the 2.4.21-rmk2 kernel which I'm still trying to track down. Still more fun to

Merging two data objects question
I have two R objects, allDataSubset1 and allDataSubset2 and the str of both of them is shown below ( I don't show all 18 lists for space purposes ). The difference between them is that the times ( and possibly the days ) and the data is different and what I want to do is merge them so that only the data in Subset2 that is the same day and times as Subset 1 remains in the merged dataset.

"Xiph needs someone to help with assembly for MSVC!"
Hello, I write to you for the announcement in this blog: http://blog.hartwork.org/?p=86. I am interested in the open-source solution proposed in this article (the preprocessor-macros solution). Have you solved the problem? Does the offer still stands? Kind Regards, Fernando Pelliccioni. Buenos Aires, Argentina

[PATCH] BUG on error handlings in Ext3 under I/O failure condition
Hello. I found bugs on error handlings in the functions arround the ext3 file system, which cause inadequate completions of synchronous write I/O operations when disk I/O failures occur. Both 2.4 and 2.6 have this problem. I carried out following experiment: 1. Mount a ext3 file system on a SCSI disk with ordered mode. 2. Open a file on the file system with O_SYNC|O_RDWR|O_TRUNC|O_CREAT

Bug#687319: xcp-storage-managers: CDROM VDIs don't hotplug in guests because ISO SRs are misconfigured
Package: xcp-storage-managers Version: 0.1.1-2ubuntu1 Severity: normal This bug prevents CDROM VDIs from being hotplugged into guest VMs. The issue is that the NFS ISO SR configures the ISO VDIs to be 'file' types, which it should configure them to by 'phy' types. This breaks on Debian's Xen because the Debian hotplug scripts are more robuse than the ones on XenServer, and

[Bridge] [PATCH] (9/11) bridge -- new ioctl interface for 32/64 compatiablity
Add four new ioctl's for the operations that can't be done through sysfs. The existing bridge ioctl's are multiplexed, and most go through SIOCDEVPRIVATE so they won't work in a mixed 32/64bit environment. The new release of bridge-utils will use these if possible, and fall back to the old interface. diff -Nru a/include/linux/if_bridge.h b/include/linux/if_bridge.h ---
