choosing the correct number of clusters using NbClust
I have the same problem you mention here. As there is no answer, did you find the way to obtain the optimal number of groups? Thank you! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

self defined distance matrix in NbClust

Index Values in NbClust
Dear All,i applied "NbClust", to my data to find optimum number of clusters, and got following resultsNow, i don't know how to read these results. more precisely, i would like to know, how to see which method is more precise for my data considering these index values.your help is needed...thanks in advance Eliza Botto > dput(Eliza)structure(list(All.index = structure(c(2, 3, 4, 5,

How to do the significant test on Local Moran's I
Dear list: I've tried professor Roger Bivand's spdep package for a while, and found it is quite useful. However, when considering the significance test of the local moran's index under the assumption of both normality and randomization, I just can't get a clue from the package's calculating results. I also read professor Luc Anselin's 1995 LISA paper (geographical

Hey everyone, I'm trying version 1.0rc2, via the rpm at ATrpms. I'm running on CentOS 4.3 on an Opteron system. I have this running stably on a 32 bit system, but I'm crashing constantly on a 64 bit system. Here's what I'm getting in my mail logs when I try to log in via IMAP: Aug 3 15:01:21 lisa dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<scottz>, method=PLAIN,

Successive Graphs
Hello! I have written an R script on a Windows platform where I calculate eight result matrices I plot using matplot. I would like to display the resulting plots successively, rather than simultaneously, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to do this. The graphs pop up in this manner by default when I run my script in S-PLUS, with tabs separating them so I

zero index and lazy evaluation in ifelse()
I don't understand this behavior: > a <- c(0, 1, 2, 3) > b <- c(1, 2, 3, 4) > ifelse (a == 0, 0, b[a]) [1] 0 2 3 1 rather than the desired 0 1 2 3. Thanks for any explanation.

I am having problems adding a user. Here is some background: OK this is my first attempt to build a Samba server so be gentle. Operating System: Fedora Core 3 Samba version: 3.0.10-1.fc3 I have set up a Stand-alone server to support my 4 client machines (all WinXP boxes w/o a domain). I had some difficulties getting things to work and eventually traced them down to a Firestarter

creating function bodies using body()
I'm having trouble figuring out how to create a function using "body<-" (). The help file for body() says that the argument should be a list of R expressions. However if I try that I get an error: > tmpfun <- function(a, b=2){} > body(tmpfun) <- list(expression(z <- a + b),expression(z^2)) Error in as.function.default(c(formals(f), value), envir) :

Data frame transpose
Hi All, I want to ask if there is a transpose function for data frame like the procedure of transpose in SAS? Because I want to partially transpose a data frame which contains 5 columns (siteid, date, time, obs, mod), what I want to do is to put time as the column variables along with siteid, and date, and put obs and mod in the row names. specifically to transpose a data frame: siteid date

Calculation of group summaries
I know R has a steep learning curve, but from where I stand the slope looks like a sheer cliff. I'm pawing through the available docs and have come across examples which come close to what I want but are proving difficult for me to modify for my use. Calculating simple group means is fairly straight forward: data(PlantGrowth) attach(PlantGrowth) stack(mean(unstack(PlantGrowth)))
