barplot x-axis problem
Hi R-users, I'm new to R and I'm trying to make a barplot combined with two lines (refering to secondary y-axis). Bars should represent the number of transfused patients by age class and sex and lines should represent the amount of blood units given in age classes. I have now successfully made a barplot and used par(new=TRUE) to plot another empty graph at the top of the barplot.

Barplot difficulties
Hello. I am an R newbie struggling to learn and use R . I have read many portions of the R Reference Manual, as well as the FAQs. Given that I learn something new each time, I know I might be missing something obvious. But I appeal to your good nature to help me through this initial problem. I have attached a pdf file to demonstrate what I desire and have listed what my data looks like in

two graphs in one figure?
Dear all, how can I plot a line graph and a bar graph in one single figure? I tried to combine "barplot" and "plot". Even though they both have the same x-values (1 to 55),  it just doesnt look as if they match in their scale (the barplot is much wider than the "plot"....even though I tried to put limits on the x-axis). Here is an example of what I did:

Labelling a second y-axis
Hi, I am using the following code as an example function to create multiple y-axes on one plot. I have it working fine however, I can't seem to add a label on the second (right) axis. I have tried adding ylab="y2" in the axis call but, that didn't work; any ideas? Thanks, Jesse Code: function() { par(las=1,xaxs="r",mai=c(1,0.75,1,1)) x<-1:10 y1<-x

Barplot+Table
I am trying to automate a report that my company does every couple of years for the state of Maine. In the past we have used SPSS to run the data and then used complicated Excel template to make the tables/graphics which we then imported into Word. Since there are 256 tables/graphics for this report, this work flow is a little painful. I would like to automate the process and I think I can do

hurdle, simulated power
Hi all-- We are planning an intervention study for adolescent alcohol use, and I am planning to use simulations based on a hurdle model (using the hurdle() function in package pscl) for sample size estimation. The simulation code and power code are below -- note that at the moment the "power" code is just returning the coefficients, as something isn't working quite right. The

barplot: border color when stacked
Dear R-users, I am using R version 2.10.1 under windows. In a barplot, I want to mark one of the bars with a special border color. For example: barplot(c(3, 7, 11), border = c(NA, "red", NA)) But how to do this when the bars are stacked? for example: barplot(matrix(1:6, ncol=3)) # border of second bar (i.e. the one with total height = 7) should be red again, I try: barplot(matrix(1:6,

Different y-axes
Hi All, I have checked everything I could find abot graphics, but still cannot solve the problem. Are there any ways to make a graph that plots two lines and two different y-axes, each of them has a scale that is related to the respective line. For example, y1 has a range 1:50 and y1 ranges 0:1. The x-axe is the same for both. Thank you in advance. --- Gregor Gawron

simple questions
Hello, I am a new user or R, and am so far very impressed with its capabilities. However, I have no programming experience, and am having some issues in trying to tell the software what I want done. There are basically two issues which I am currently grappling with. The first, I have a data matrix, with two factors and dozens of response variables. I am interested on conducting ANOVAs on

Barplot and line x-axis positions
Hello all, Hoping that there is a fairly simple solution to my query... I'm trying to overlay a line plot of some data onto a barplot of different data. The y-axes are different for each set of data but the x-axes are the same (1:12, corresponding with 12 months of observations). The problem I'm having is that the centre of the bars and the points on line don't match up, which is

barplot() options for intervals on axes
Hello, I am a beginner with R. I read many tutorials and the FAQ but I cannot solve my problem. I use barplot() to view my graph. I try to get more interval marks on y axis. I wasn't able to find options in 'help(barplot)' or 'help(par)' to do this with barplot(). I seek for another option to print y values on my bars like on the graph of the R homepage:

garch warning
Dear r users, Few days ago I posted the same topic but unable to receive any suggestion. So I am asking this same question. I was trying to fit a garch(1,1) model to my dataset. But while executing I got a warning message "NaNs produced in: sqrt(pred$e)". And got the estimated sd's along with five "NA", but as per my best knowledge I should get only one

Triangular filled contour plot
Hi all, I am working on a filled contour plot which shows a triangular matrix data set (as shown below). Is there a possibilty to draw a triangular filled contour in a equilateral triangle (like a ternary plot)?
