Bug in update()? (PR#6902)
Dear all, I noticed the following while playing around with fitting log-linear models to contingency tables using R 1.8.1, but the problem also exists under R 1.9.0. A reproducible example uses the following contingency table: > library(MASS) > data(quine) > tmp <- with(quine, expand.grid(Eth=levels(Eth), Sex=levels(Sex), + Lrn=levels(Lrn), Age=levels(Age)))

anova() on three or more objects behaves inconsistently (PR#621)
anova() on three or more objects behaves inconsistently in R. In R anovalist.lm does a sequential ANOVA using pairwise F tests, ignoring all the other objects, so the larger of the two models provides the denominator. In S anova.lmlist uses the denominator from the largest model (smallest residual df) in the set, as does anova.glmlist in both. I suggest that R's anovalist.lm is wrong (that

Incoming INVITE with Portability Info and LRN
I am trying to set up my Asterisk server so that it will recognize an incoming call to the Asterisk's own Location Routing Number (LRN), validating the "rn" in the INVITE and then using the Called Number from the INVITE as the extension in the dialplan. The INVITE R-URI looks like: INVITE sip:+19135041291;rn=+19136630000;npdi at 12.4.240.200:5060;user=phone;transport=udp SIP/2.0

A modern object-oriented machine learning framework in R

"Aren't Windows users accustomed to this feature being missing anyway?" I use Mac mostly now, but when I used Windows, now and then I always expected the wildcard to work, it just worked on most things so it was actually a bit of a pain in the ass when it didn't. Goodness of fit for negative binomial model
Dear r list,   I am using glm.nb in the MASS package to fit negative binomial models to data on manta ray abundance, and AICctab in the bbmle package to compare model IC.  However, I need to test for the goodness of fit of the full model, and have not been able to find a Pearson's Chi Squared statistic in any of the output.  Am I missing it somewhere?  Is there a way to run the test using

ext3 with 2.4.18, back to 2.2.20 ?
Hi, I installed a 2.4.18 kernel, with ext3 support and make a tune2fs -j /dev/sdxxx with all partitions, now I want to run a 2.2.20 kernel, I want to know if I can use the patch for 2.2.20 series (0.0.7a) without problems with my new ext3 partitions, or I must mount it as ext2 from 2.2.20, greetings and reply to admin@cideweb.com, I'm not subscribed to the list.

libFLAC header checking
In stream_decoder.c function find_metadata_() checks whether a file is valid or not. There are 4 cases it recognizes: 1) file begins with 'fLaC' 2) file begins with ID3 (skipped), followed by 'fLaC' 3) file may begin with 11111111 111110?? sync code (or 11111111111110, depends on endianess i suppose). That is - a raw file with FLAC frames, without header (right?). 4) file begins
