Comparing two variables for match and creating a new vector with results
Hello,
I need help comparing two variables and producing a third variable with the
result.I have this data:
id <-c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
vi <-c(1,0,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,0)
vi2 <-c(0,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,0,0)
data<-cbind(id,vi,vi2)
For the data in the example, I need to generate:
id <-c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
correct <-c(0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1,0,1)
correct_data<-cbind(id,correct)

Replacing elements of a list over a certain threshold
Dear List,
I have a list of length ~1000 filled with numerics. I need to replace
the elements of this list that are above a certain numerical threshold
with the value of the threshold.
e.g
example=list(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
threshold=5

trouble with chmod on certain symlinks
hello-
i am using rsync via ssh to maintain a copy of a few directories on a
remote server, and am getting an error when rsync tries to chmod a
certain file following it's transfer. there are a couple of cases in
which this occurring - below is one example.
local machine is debian testing - rsync version 2.6.3 protocol version

Dear all,
I have a variable called thres and before I run a script I set it to a value
like

at the end of the execution I am issuing a save(variablename,file='Results')
which will end up with a file saved at the current directory with the name Results

I am trying to write up a transformation for the following code where
instead of incrementing the loop variable by 1, I increment it by 2 ie.

gets transformed to

Split a data.frame

I am struggling to split a data.frame as will below scheme :
DF = data.frame(name = c('a', 'v', 'c'), val = 0); DF
split_str = c('a', 'c')
Now, for each element in split_str, R should find which row of DF contains
that element, and return DF with all rows starting from next row of the

Using ACLs
I am trying to change some ACLs on some files and directories. I have samba
binaries with acl support compiled in. I am using an XFS filesystem. The
Mandrake kernel supports acls by default.
When I right click on the file in Windows explorer and change the
permissions, I get an access denied error. If I use smbcacls, I get the
following:

Multiple domain browselist over a wanlink
Hi,
I'm trying to generate a multiple domain browselist but I don't get it to
work.
I've tried everyting by the book but the result is always the same:
I can see the other workgroup(s) but they are empty. Currently I've added
the following rules to the smb.conf
remote browse sync = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4
remote announce = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4

More problems with lattice and postscript
Dear List members,
I am trying to produce some trellis graphics and to save them in a
postscript file but I only get blank files. R behaviour is certainly
strange because I use a loop to generate the graphics (see code below).
When I change the loop variable myself the postscript graphics are OK.
I am using R 1.9.1 (2004-06-21) on Debian GNU/Linux which I try to keep
updated on a daily basis. I

Newbie graphing questions
Hi everyone. R is new to me and I'm very impressed with its
capabilities but still cannot figure out how to do some basic things.
There seems to be no lack of documentation but finding what I need has
proven difficult. Perhaps you can help.

What does `_data` mean in transform()?
Hi All,
I meant to take the min row by row. But the result is apparently not
what I want. Changing min to pmin solve the problem.
