Réf. : Net groupmap fails
Stephanie,
Thank you for your help. I tryed what you suggest but no luck.. I get
this:
root@lnxsrvr2:~# /usr/local/samba/bin/net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain
Admins" unixgroup="Domain Admins" rid=512
Can't lookup UNIX group Domain Admins
Is there something with initial compiling samba 3.0.0 that would disable
this? All the documentation that I've seen makes it look so

[Fwd: Re: Samba 3.0.1 W2K Joing domain error - the user name couldnot be found]
Hi,
Thanks for your information. Now I was not able to login as domain user. I
am getting following error message.
The system cannot log you on now because domain TECHGROUP is not available.
Here is my ldap log message:-

Samba4: error in schema?
Hi
There seems to be a discrepancy in the s4 schema concerning security groups.
Domain Users comes with gidNumber: 100. This is however contrary to what
the schema allows. You can show this as follows:
Create a new group. samba-tool group add mygroup.
Use phpldapadmin to add the gidNumber attribute.
There is an error because gidNumber is provided by the posixGroup class
and that objectclass is

Joining a Windows XP pc to Samba / LDAP domain
Hi, guys,
I'm trying to create a PDC using Samba with an LDAP backend. According
to all the guides I read, this should be fairly easy really, but I've
done nothing else for the last week and it still doesn't work the way
the manual says it should! As far as I can see, everything is set up and
working correctly right up to the point when I try and join a machine to
the domain.

LDAP-Backend: How to store 'employeeNumber' in 'sambaGroupMapping'?
Hello,
this is a little bit off-topic, because it is rather LDAP related. I need to store an additional string in every 'posixGroup/sambaGroupMapping' object in the LDAP backend. (This string is used to hold an key to an external database.)
For user accounts I can use the 'employeeNumber' attribute which is provided by 'inetOrgPerson'. Any ideas what I could use for group

LDAP backend and sambaGroupType for builtin groups
Hi,
I have a question about sambaGroupType attribute on a Samba 3.2 PDC
with LDAP backend (and nss_ldap + nss_winbind).
What should be the value for Administrators builtin group ?
If i use smbldap-populate from smbldap-tools, the value of
sambaGroupType is 5 (and the LDAP entry for this group is a posixGroup
and a sambaGroupMapping).
I've also noticed that "wbinfo -g" doesn't

Fwd: CRAN problem with plyr-1.4.1
It looks like there might be some kind of problem with the Plyr-1.4.1

but trying to fetch the source through the provided link gives a 404:

Samba 3 PDC with ldapsam and login problem
Hi,
<foreword>
I am about to set up Samba 3.0.14a on Linux as PDC wit LDAP backend for
our faculty. However, first tries have only partly been successful.
First I added samba LDAP-Schema attributes to existing account, created
their Samba passwords with smbpasswd and it worked so that normal users
could log in via the windows network neighborhood and use the shares.
But, I couldn't

ERROR: failed to setup guest info.
OK, I had this working a few days ago, but have evidently changed
something that I cannot locate. Someone hit me with their 2x4.
Samba 3.0.22, Fedora Core 4, ldapsam (OpenLDAP 2.3.24).
smbd will not start, with the "ERROR: failed to setup guest info" error (I
have "guest account = guest", which is a valid user with correct info in
LDAP):

dovecot-sieve vacation changes
I'd like to put forward the following patch for dovecot-sieve.
Essentially this just merges in some changes made in CMU sieve 2.3.8 and
as such brings the behaviour more in line with RFC 3834 "Recommendations
for Automatic Responses to Electronic Mail":
- fixes erroneous sender "-request" substring match
- checks for existence of a selection of list-* headers
