Thoughts on samba backup script for DCs
Hello, possibly the author of the samba backup script will read this. I customized the script myself due to some things: 1. At the end the script looks for samba4_* files to rotate the backups. But only backups of the private folder get this prefix with the original script. sysvol and etc backups will remain. 2. The wiki of backup and restore advises to restore on the same version of samba the

'For each file in folder F do....'
Hello, I have 2700 text files in a folder and need to apply the same program/procedure to each individually. I'm trying to find how to code something like: For each file in <Folder> do {<Procedure>} is there an easy way to do this? other suggestions? I have tried to list all the files names in a vector e.g. >listfiles[1:10,1] 1 H:/Rtest/AXP.txt 2 H:/Rtest/BA.txt 3

Sysvol replication
Hi all, Has anyone actually got sysvol replication working between 2 (or more) Samba4 DCs? I've tried gluster, inosync, csync and rsync and keep getting stuck on issues with the extended attributes. Is there a roadmap or any clues of a date when MSFRS or DFS replication will be part of Samb4? thanks again, Jim

add vectors to multiple objects
Hi everyone, I try to add many vectors (L1,L2,L3....) to many list objects (a.list, b.list....) in a workspace. Somethings like below, but it is not working. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Best, John lf=ls(pattern=".lst")  for (x in listfiles) {     dat=read.delim(x,header=F)     for (i in 1: lf) {     assign(i$add,as.numeric(dat[,3]))   #or i$add=as.numeric(dat[,3]

Average of data files in a directory
Dear all, I know it is as simple as c <- (a + b)/2 to compute the average (element-wise) of two data vectors. However, I can't work out to compute the average when you have many data vectors in a directory. I have done this: ------------------------------------ setwd("/.../data/") listfiles <- list.files(pattern=".pre") # list all datafiles in the directory

Anyone know whats up with wiki?
> Anyway, Wiki is operational, but Dear List: Please report surprises. 1_ At the bottom-center, of each wiki page, there used to be a: "This page has been accessed 'N' times." message, in which 'N' was a number that (I think) comes from setting: $wgDisableCounters = true; Additionally, there used to be a "Special:PopularPages" page, available as an

Roaming Profiles under Linux clients
Hi, As I configured the Roaming profiles under linux, it more or less generate an abnormal operation (in less than 2 mins) if I add/copy some files to the home directory. But for Windows XP and Windows 7 is running smoothly and it generates folders at the Samba4 server location with corresponding users. e.g. Administrator (for XP), and Administrator.V2 (for Win7/2008) based on my observations. 7-Zip for CentOS X86-64
Hey Y'all, I'm looking at ZCad: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zcad/?source=directory It looks like the kind of 3D CAD package that I've been looking for. It says that it works on Linux but it's zipped with 7-Zip which doesn't seem to be available for CentOS. Does anyone know if ZCAD or 7-Zip is packaged for CentOS X86-64 somewhere out there? -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^

rsync alternative -- smbclient?
As you may have noticed I am looking into containers? in order to minimize configuration I also started looking into options for sysvol replication. I am aware of the list at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/SysVol_replication_(DFS-R) Ignoring the robocopy option, essentially all of them use rsync, w/o ssh, w/o some extras like unison, osync, or lsyncd as Sven suggested, plus optionally defining a

Reading in files with variable parts to names
Dear all, I'm trying to read in a whole directory of files which have two variable parts to the file name: year and month. E.g. comp198604.asc represents April of 1986 - 'comp' is fixed in each case. Years range between 1986 to 1995 and months are between 1 and 12. Just to be clear, there are 12 files associated with each year: e.g. comp198601, comp198602, ... comp198612 through to

It's called writeitnow: http://www.ravensheadservices.com/ Wine is installed on my box. When I run the application I get the following error message: "The Java(TM) VM could not be started. samba4 backup script
Hi list I recently encountered errors while trying to backup the samba4 AD. Apparently tar had some problems with sockets in the samba4 directory. I modified the samba4 backup script, perhaps this or a similar change is good to include upstream? A few easy dpkg optimizations for supermin
I have done some printf profiling and found that supermin's calls to dpkg for individual packages are quite expensive. Here are some patches that gather all information on demand where possible. On my Debian/unstable-based workstation at home, preparing a minimal appliance using $ ./supermin --use-installed --prepare bash -o supermin.d now takes ~3.5s (previously ~15s). Turning that
