Discard permissions on moving files/folders in a share and inherit the permissions of the new parent directory
Hi,
I'd like to inherit the permissions of a parent folder to file/folder that
is moved into it.
Just like if you copy it. Since the Windows default behaviour is different,
i tried to find out how to change it.

Sadly this doesn't work for windows 7.
After some googling i found a hotfix by

PXE Linux (Simple Menu) freeze after pressing 23 times return
Yes it sounds silly, but its true.
I made a menu with some submenu with the simple menu system.
After pressing 23 times return to get into the submenu or back to the
mainmenu it freeze.
I think this is a bug of syslinux. I tried it on 3 different PC/Servers
always the same effect.
Here is my default and one of my submenu files:

I just want to inform you, that the first alpha-version of a GUI for the
opustools for Windows is online available [1]. Critics and comments are
welcome - maybe someone know how to transfer that project to an open
source site.
with greetings,

Bug: Loosing Group Permissions in Archive Mode with Sticky Bit and ACL Mask
Hello,
I currently try to copy a directory locally between two ext4 filesystems
while preserving permissions and ACLs using the -aAX options. Under some
conditions, rsync does not copy the posix permissions completely, it
changes the group::rwx to a group::--- permission. The latest rsync
available on Debian Jessie is 3.1.1, but the changelog for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3
did not seem to mention such a bug

Hmmm.... I thought this had resolved the issue, because the group names
did update in the ACLs. However, I changed another group name about 20
minutes ago and it still hasn't updated in its associated ACL. I thought
perhaps there was some lazy update or

NT vs W2K permission
Hi,
I have a group of users (Doc Master Index) that is given rwx permission to a
subfolder under a share folder (docs) by ACL. If user edits the file in NT
the permission remains intact, but if user changes the file in W2K, everyone
gets read-only. Would someone give me a couple of pointers please? A subset
of my conf is appended below.
Regards,
Norman

Secondary groups and Posix ACL
I've got a very odd situation occurring. I recently upgraded to Samba
2.0.26a and now secondary group membership doesn't work.
On the filesystem I have this layout
/derek
/derek/Folder 1
/derek/Folder 2
derek has these ACLs
# file: derek
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rwx
group::r-x
other:r-x
Folder 1 has these ACLs
# file: Folder 1
# owner: root
# group: g1

3.0.24 and disappearing ACL entries
I've been working at this for a few days now and I can't figure out what
is broken. Google turns up similar issues from years back, but I hope
this is a bug resurfacing. ACL entries are being deleted when files are
saved. Here is an example:
username: user1
group membership: Domain Users
directory: /share/test
file: test.xls
getfacl /share
# file: share
# owner: DOMAIN+backupuser

ACL problem with Samba > 3.4.x on GPFS
When a file is created with samba 3.5.x or 3.6.x, it is created effective read-only:
~ # getfacl Microsoft\ Word-Dokument\ \(neu\).docx
# file: Microsoft\040Word-Dokument\040(neu).docx
# owner: root
# group: 11816
user::rwx
user:11582:rwx #effective:r--
group::rwx #effective:r--
mask::r--
other::---
The ACL-settings for the parent directory are ok:
~ # getfacl .
