for loop to merge .csvs
So I needed to merge 17 .csv files, and did so by brute force, but I might
need to do so again. Anyone have suggestions for a for loop that might do
the below for me (where a:r are separate .csv files)
ab<-merge(a,b,all=TRUE)
cd<-merge(c,d,all=TRUE)
ef<-merge(e,f,all=TRUE)
gh<-merge(g,h,all=TRUE)
ij<-merge(i,j,all=TRUE)
kl<-merge(k,l,all=TRUE)
no<-merge(m,n,all=TRUE)

Question about Case Insensitivity
Hi,
I am trying to make a Linux filesystem appear case-insensitive and I got the
idea that I could use a SAMBA loopback mount to do this. I almost succeeded on
my first try but I ran into a snag I have no answer for yet.
My setup involves sharing filesystem "/a" and then mounting it on "/b". I can
use "ls -l" on the "/b" filesystem in a case-insensitive

I am currently working on problem and stumped on "for" loop.

break up a string into strings with a fixed length
dear all,
I have some very long strings and would like to break up each long string
into multiple strings with a fixed length, e.g. to break up
abcdefghijkl
into
abc, def, ghi, jkl
I tried a couple of commands but was not successful. Any help will be
appreciated.
Best,
Jimmy

Help in splitting ists into sub-lists
Dear List,
Let's say I have a list whose components are 2 matrices (as exemplified in
the "mylist" object below). I'd like to create a list with components being
4 matrices based on an logical index vector. is there a way to simplify what
I'm doing to obtain the results in "mylist2"? I'd like something that would
work on an arbitrary number of elements in

Problem with RMA using limma, oligo and pdInfoBuilder packages
Hi,
I am a Ph.D. student from Québec, Canada. I’m a beginner with R and
Bioconductor. Until now the only experience I have is in analyzing
microarray data using affy and limma packages. Now I am trying to analyze
Rat Gene 10 st arrays and I would like to run RMA analysis and Smyth
moderated t test on those arrays. Since no cdf official package is available
for those arrays, after reading many

match and unique
Is the phrase "index <- match(x, sort(unique(x)))" reliable, in the sense that it will
never return NA?
Context: Calculation of survival curves involves the concept of unique death times. I've
had reported cases in the past where survfit failed, and it was due to the fact that two
"differ by machine precision" values would sometimes match and sometimes not,

which() vs. just logical selection in df
Hi Dr. Snow, & R-helpers,
Thank you for your reply! I hadn't heard of the {microbenchmark}
package & was excited to try it! Thank you for the suggestion! I did
check the reference source for which() beforehand, which included the
statement to remove NAa, and I didn't have any missing values or NAs:
sum(is.na(dat$gender2))
sum(is.na(dat$gender))
sum(is.na(dat$y))

Acceder a varias tablas
Buenas,
He creado dos andamios para dos tablas a la que accedo por index1 e

mas compleja...es decir si tengo una tabla Productos y otra tabla
descripciones y quiero mostrar en los productos con sus descripciones...
he intentado en el index1 acceder a la

question about contrast in R for multi-factor linear regression models?
Hi all,
I am using "lm" to fit some anova factor models with interactions.
The default setting for my unordered factors is "treatment". I
understand the resultant "lm" coefficients for one factors, but when
it comes to the interaction term, I got confused.

Removing Zeros from matrix
Hi Everybody,
I have a matrix of about 45 columns. Some of the rows contain zeros. Using
>data1<-data[complete.cases(data),], I can remove the "NA" rows. But I am
unable to tackle that of zeros.
Can anybody give me an idea of how to remove rows containing zeros in a
matrix.
Thanks so much

lmer error: number of observations <= number of random effects
I am running a multilevel growth curve model to examine predictors of
social anhedonia (SA) trajectory through ages 12, 15 and 18. SA is a
continuous numeric variable. The age variable (Index1) has been coded as 0
for age 12, 1 for age 15 and 2 for age 18. I am currently using a time
varying predictor, stress (LSI), which was measured at ages 12, 15 and 18,
to examine whether trajectory/variation

RDig and AAF playing together
I have a site with two indexes. Index A is created offline by RDig
and queried from the web via RDig (specifically,
RDig.searcher.search). Index B is managed by AAF with :remote =>
true. Simple enough. However, I need to query both indexes from RDig.
Usually this is ok, as I modified RDig to accept an array of
search_paths with an element for index A and index B.
However, when Index

plot several histograms with same y-axes scaling using hist()
Dear all
Problem: hist()-function, scale = ?percent?
I want to generate histograms for changing underlying data. In order to make
them comparable, I want to fix the y-axis (vertical-axis) to, e.g., 0%, 10%,
20%, 30% as well as to fix the spaces, too. So the y-axis in each histogram
should be identical. Currently, I have 100 histograms and the y-axis scales
changes in each.
Here is my code:
