Converting F-value from ANOVA to cohen's d in meta-analysis (metafor-package)
Dear R-experts!
Running a meta-analysis (using the magnificent metafor-package), I use
cohen's d as a main outcome measure in a random-effects model.
For most of the samples cohen's d is derived form a comparison of two groups
(A & B). However some studies report results from an ANOVA (one-factor with
three levels: C,D,E) whereas two groups (C,D) correspond to one group in the

pwr.2p2n.test when the ratio of n1/n2 is known
Hi,
I am trying to do a power calculation for a difference in proportions
test where I want to estimate the sample size required. I know (well
estimate) that group one (n1) is 10% of the population and group 2 (n2)
is 90% of the population. I know the effect size (h). pwr.2p2n.test
only allows one variable to be left null whereas I would like both n1
and n2 to be determined where I know there

Trouble installing pwr package
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting access to the pwr. This is on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx,
64 bit.
I'm installing pwr via packages.install('pwr'), and loading it via
library(pwr), both of which appear successful.
Strangely, I never get access to the pwr object in R.
I tried installing it to /usr/local/lib/R/site-library and
~/R/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-library.
I also tried installing it

pwr.prop.test and continuity correction
Hi,
I am trying to sort out a discrepancy between power calculations results
between me and another statistician. I use R but I am not sure what she
uses. It is on the proportions test and so I have been using
pwr.prop.test. I think I have tracked the problem down to pwr.prop.test
not using the continuity correction for the test (I did this by using
the java applet from

pwr/macros: Stop playing Russian roulette on data memory
This patch fixes the pwr firmware to play nicely at least on NVA3. Because Martin might send more patches soon, I didn't include a regenerated nvXX.fuc.h. To me it makes more sense if all patches are merged then, and a final patch regenerates the headers in one go. Of course, I did test this patch and found it to work as intended, so feel free to pick up as you please.

pwr package
Hello,
I'm a new user of the R environment. I need to do some power analysis.
For this purpose, I installed the "pwr" package from the R window, but
unfortunately something went wrong. The installation of the package
was successful (I got a message saying so in R) but when I enter a
function of that package it says that the function does not exist!
I appreciate your help,

Extract confidence intervals from rma object (metafor package)
Dear R-experts!
I am working on some meta-analysis using the metafor package. I would like
to extract values of the confidence intervals of the effect sizes of the
single studies from an rma object. Those values are printed out when
plotting a forest plot using the forest function on the rma object, however
I was not able to locate them.
Many thanks for your help!

Using dcast with multiple functions to aggregate
Dear R communitiy,
I am trying to use multiple functions for aggregation within a function
call for dcast. However this seems to result in an error. Also I have not
managed to make dcast() work with fun.aggregate=sd. Please find attached
some example code using the ChickWeight data.
Many thanks for your help!

[PATCH V2 2/4] pwr: make nouveau_pwr_pgob() non-static
The platform device does not use the common nouveau_pwr_init() to initialize
the PWR, but it does need the .prob() be assigned to avoid NULL pointer
dereference in graph/nve4.c.

[PATCH 3/8] pwr/memx: Make FB disable and enable explicit
Needs to be done after wait-for-VBLANK, and NVA3 requires register writes in between. Rather than hard-coding register writes, just split out fb_disable and fb_enable.

Estimate average standard deviation of mean of two dependent groups
Dear R-experts!
I am currently running a meta-analysis with the help of the great metafor
package. However I have some difficulties setting up my raw data to enter it
to the meta-analysis models.
I have a group of subjects that have been measured in two continuous
variables (A & B). I have the information about the mean of the two
variables, the group size (n) and the standard deviations of

Problem with Loops
Hello,
I am trying to write a script with the end goal of graphing power (y) as a
result of sample size (x) at a variety of effects sizes. I am new to loops,
and I think my problem is there. Here's the script, which is modified from
the script found at the bootom of

Main-effect of categorical variables in meta-analysis (metafor)
Dear R-experts!
In a meta-analysis (metafor) I would like to assess the effect of two
categorical covariates (A & B) whereas they both have 4 levels.
Is my understanding correct that this would require to dummy-code (0,1) each
level of each covariate (A & B)?
However I am interested in the main-effects and the interaction of these two
covariates and the dummy-coding would only allow to

delta and sd parameters for power.t.test
What is the rationale behind having both the delta and sd parameters for
the power.t.test function? For the relevant noncentrality parameter, we
only need the ratio delta/sd. If my effect size is given as Cohen's d,
then I only got that ratio and not sd.
As far as I see, in such a case, I can specify delta=d and leave sd at
its default value 1. Is this correct or am I missing something?

problem subsetting data frame with variable instead of constant
Hello,
I've encountered a very weird issue with the method subset(), or maybe this
is something I don't know about said method that when you're subsetting
based on the columns of a data frame you can only use constants (0.1, 2.3,
2.2) instead of variables?
Here's a look at my data frame called 'ea.cad.pwr':

binomial sample size calculation
Hi everyone.
I need to do a sample size calculation for a one sample based on a CI interval of +- 5% of the proportion, we expect to have a rate of 0.07 based on similar studies. I have looked at the pwr-package as well as the power.prop.test function, but I can't see how to make either do what I need. Could anyone point me to a function, or explain how to do this will the functions in pwr?
