Hi everyone
I have these shares in smb.conf:
[home2]
path = /home2
read only = No
[home]
path = /home2/home
read only = No
I mount [home] on a Linux client like this:
mount -t cifs //hh1/home2 /home2 -osec=krb5,rw,multiuser
Here is the output of the mount command:
//hh1/home2 on /home2 type cifs

Can't access Samba shares from Nautilus
Hi,
I'm currently experimenting with Samba on a few sandbox machines.
On the server side, I have setup CentOS 7 with a basic Samba setup and
two shares, one public, the other password-protected.
I have two Windows 7 boxes in my network, and I can access the shares
perfectly, log in to the password-protected share, read and write files,
so this seems to work OK.

samba 4 and nfs permissions
Hi
We have AD users created with either samba-tool user add steve2 or using
the windows AD frontend from a windows box.
Users are created with home directories under /home/CACTUS
On a win 7 client all works fine. Users can authenticate against the
CACTUS domain and files are created with the correct uid:gid
We joined an Ubuntu client to the domain using likewise. /home from the
server is

CentOS6 gvfs disk thrashing
We recently started upgrading users' workstations to CentOS6. Now
we've come across an interesting issue:
~user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata is filling up with tons of files.
Once there are around 69270 of them, no more are being created, and
the NetApp filer the user's home is on logs:
Directory ..../user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/ reached the maxdirsize

centos 6 gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor
Hi all,
I am looking at processes in centos 6.
How do I stop gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor from starting.
I tried searching in gconf-edit for it but did not find anything.
I have ran these commands and rebooted. (I verified they are unchecked
now also)
gconftool-2 -t bool --list-type bool --set
/apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount false
gconftool-2 -t bool

and
getent group Domain\ Users
Domain Users:*:20513:
work fine.

Import Nautilus file notes from C6 Gnome to C7 Mate
With C6 Gnome and C7 Mate you can right-click on a file icon, select Properties, select Notes, and write notes about your file.
Does anyone know if those notes can be directly transferred between C6 Gnome and C7 Mate? I'm looking into upgrading someone's desktop machine to C7 and she has a lot of notes attached to her files that she doesn't want to lose.

gvfs and (lib)smbclient
Hi all,
I'm one of the GNOME gvfs maintainers, and would like to improve the support of
smb in gvfs, especially in the context of taking advantage of the improvements
of SMB2 and SMB3. Currently we use libsmbclient which provides a fairly easy to
use API. It is not, however, quite sufficient for the way that we would like to
use it (at least I think so):
- Slow transfer speeds. Based on a
