understanding the FUNCTION function
Hello,
I am trying to understand why the FUNCTION used in several codes, won't
create the object after it finishes running the code.
For instance, look at the following:
Number<- function(x) {MyNumberIs<-x}
When I run
Number(5)
Everything goes well, except that if I try to call the object MyNumberIs, I
won't find it.
I understand that this function can assume many parameters,

Gummy Variable : Doubt
Hi,
I have a system in which I analyze 2 subjects and 1 variable, so I have
2 models as follow:
y ~ x_1[, 1] + x_2[, 1] + x_1[, 2] + x_2[, 2]
Where
x_1[, i] = cos(2 * pi * t / T_i)
x_2[, i] = sin(2 * pi * t / T_i)
i = 1, 2
Data have two columns: t and y.
As you can see, I have a multiple components model, with rithm and
without trends, and I have a fundamental

bat files
Just a question, should it be possible to run bat files with wine.
Basically the application is java, I know the java will run under windows.
I also know that java will run under linux natively, but I am curious if
this is possible to start under wine.
I get wine: can't exec 'blue.bat': invalid exe file.

Problem with UK financial program
I have been trying for some time to run a British financial program,
called ShareScope, under Wine. It is the sole remaining reason for me to
run Windows, so I am keen to succeed. The developers of the program
claim to have run it successfully under Wine, but they don't provide
support. Since this is a minority interest, I will have to solve it
myself, but I'm stuck !

What are the best tools (models within R) for use in predicting stock
market trading values? Currently I'm using the smooth.spline but are there
any others used in practice?
Do I find the mathematical formulations of R-functions somewhere (I now I
could deduct it from the source code algorithms but ...)? Of the
smooth.spline() for example?

Intraday financial returns
Hello,
I would like to create a function that computes intraday returns of a financial asset
on a calendar time basis, without making any loop. For instance, I want to get price returns every 60 seconds.
The main problem is that the times series of prices is irregularly spaced in time.
I have looked in the "zoo" or "its" classes but have not found any answer to my problem.

I've been approached to research and develop a system using asterisk. It
will be used mainly to provide voice support to about 10,000 IAX clients
operating on bank ATMs.
So was wondering if there were any financial institutions, banks etc.
using * and any comments would be much appreciated.
