domain/number line/range reduction problem
Hello, Currently I'm only coming up with brute force solutions to this issue. Wondering if anyone knows of a better way to do this. The problem: I have endpoints of one x range (x_rng) and an unknown number of s ranges (s[#]_rng) also defined by endpoints. What I want are the parts of the x ranges that don't overlap the s ranges. The examples below demonstrate what I mean. I'm

Code works standalone, yet same code fails when part of package
Hi I'm missing something here but I cannot figure out what. What I can see is that the same code works when I load it via source(...) yet fails when I execute it after loading the package I have built (which includes the code. Below is a transcript of my R session. First I load the code from a file, using source(). Then I execute it fine. Then I remove the function object, I load the

Does anybody know how to control the appearance of the end of the line in lattice?
Hi All, I am plotting vertical lines using xyplot in lattice and type="h". It works well, but the problem is that the tops of the lines are convex and the bottoms are concave. Is there a way to flatten the tops and bottoms? Here's my code: Source<-matrix(1:30,10,3) colnames(Source)<-c("x","y1","y2") Source<-data.frame(Source) xyplot(y2+y1~x,

speex on sparc seems OK
Hi, With the talk of speex possibly mis-behaving on PPC, I decided to check the big-endian architecture I have handy - the Ultrasparc. - playback of Intel platform .spx files appears fine on the Ultra 10. - encoding a .wav file and playing back on the Ultra 10 worked too. My evaluation is that it works the same on my Ultra 10 as it did on my Intel laptop. But I must say the evaluation was made

Multiple symbols per single line in a legend
Hello everybody, Is it possible to coax legend() into displaying more than one simbol per line in legend? I have a graph like the one attached to this mail; I would like to reorganize the legend in such a way that the duplicate text would be omitted, i.e., the first line would read <square> <triangledown> "increasing frequency" and the second one would read <circle>

[LLVM] New Dead Code Elimination
I have a rewrite of the aggressive dead code elimination pass which handles control flow and allows may-be-infinite loops to be removed under optional flag. Chandler suggested rather than a large change a series of small changes and, while that may not get us to small changes easily, there has been no further commentary on the diff: https://reviews.llvm.org/D18762. Given that, I will plan on

problems creating data frames
I am having two problems creating data frames that I have solutions, but they really seem like kludges and I assume I just don't understand the proper R way of doing things. The first situation is I have an set of uneven data vectors. When I try to use them to create a data frame I would like the bottoms of them padded with NAs, without explicitly specifying that. When I do: anxiety.data =

two steps when calling from web!
Dear All. When I calling a number from web, my softphone show me "Answer" and "Decline" bottoms, and then I have to click Answer to call the number. it seems it is two step to calling the number. If I type the number direct to my client softphone, it calls directly the number without show me to choose Answer to calling. First call connect with client and then come into my

[LLVM] New Dead Code Elimination
You should not expect pretty much any perf uplifts from any DCE, ever. If it does, it's mostly luck (better cache behavior, etc). You should expect size improvements ;) On Mon, Aug 1, 2016 at 10:51 PM, Das, Dibyendu via llvm-dev < llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: > What kind of perf. uplifts are expected and in what benchmarks/apps ? > > > > *From:* llvm-dev

how to label the branches of a tree
Hi, I am using rpart package to fit classification trees. library(rpart) fit <- rpart(Kyphosis ~ Age + Number + Start, data=kyphosis) plot(fit, uniform=T) text(fit, use.n=TRUE) But I am unable to label the branches (not the nodes) of the tree. Can somebody help me out in this? Thank you, Regards Utkarsh Singhal | Amba Research Ph +91 80 3980 8017 | Mob +91 99 0295 8815

Speex beta 3 is out
Hi, I'd like to announce Speex beta 3: This is the third beta for Speex, implementing what should be the last new features before 1.0. These new features are a new "ultra-wideband" mode for encoding at 32 kHz (up to 48 kHz) and an intensity stereo mode. Both of these are implemented to preserve both backward and forward compatibility with other releases. This means that it is now

questions about artifacts in low bitrate streams
Hello- I recently downloaded Verbs and started playing with the encoder. The quality was great when I encoded a few samples at medium and high bitrates, but when trying to encode the same clips at 16 kbps, artifacts are audible during playback- short bursts of screeching noise, not just distortion. I'm using oggenc 1.0 beta 4 to encode, sonique to play back on Windows NT. I've also

draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
I recommend instead of no border, that you use a border with the same color as the fill. I do this in the likert functions in the HH package. draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
Dear R-users, I want to draw a barplot with beside=TRUE. One halve of the bars are drawn with a border, while the other halve are drawn without a border (i.e. filled bars vs. non-filled bars next to each other). Because borders are drawn around the bars, doing this leads to one halve of the bars being wider than the other halve, expanding across the 0-point of the y-axis. This problem emerges
