Surprising result from integrate
Hi all, sorry for this extensive question, but I think that I'm missing something fundamental. I stepped into a surprising result with the integrate function and I would be glad if someone could put some light onto this. I try to integrate over an s-shaped growth-function. The results from this calculation seem to be correct for small values of t. Just for fun I tried some large values and

Which is the best open source ecommerce platform?
Good afternoon from Singapore, There are far too many choices when it comes to open source ecommerce solutions. Are there any credible rankings of open source ecommerce platforms? Which open source ecommerce solution do you think is the best and tell me why. Thank you. ===BEGIN SIGNATURE=== Turritopsis Dohrnii Teo En Ming's Academic Qualifications as at 30 Oct 2017 [1]

Production ecommerce sites?
Hi All First post and its a question of Rails abilities. I was wondering if their are any examples of a Rails application driving an ecommerce shop site. Selling a catalogue of products? We''re looking at starting our first major Rails project at work and wanted to gather some examples to sell to the MD as PHP is becoming a drag and there''s so much more possibility in Rails.

probabilistic neural networks
Hi, I'm working on a classification problem and one of the methods I'd like to use are neural networks. I've been using nnet to build a classification network. However I would like to have the probabilities associated with the prediction. Are there any implementations of probabilistic neural networks available in R? thanks,

OT: Ecommerce hosting
Would appreciate some suggestions for ecommerce hosting. Been using, cough, cough, godaddy, for about 5 or 6 yrs but in the last year or so, they really suck. Did the hosting myself for a while prior to going with godaddy but I don't have time to babysit. Seems godaddy would rather spend millions advertising during the Super Bowl than put that money to good use. TIA!!

Getting started with ActiveMerchant & new Ecommerce book
Hi there I''ve got a copy of the ''Beginning Ruby on Rails Ecommerce'' book and am trying to integrate ActiveMerchant into my app. My order.rb file has the line: ''include ActiveMerchant::Billing'' per the book. My Order model also has, amongst other things, the following validation: '' validates_inclusion_of :billing_country, :in =>

Best encoding/charset for rails ecommerce site?
Normally, I''d just use UTF-8 but the more I read about ruby, the more confused I am about selecting the most trouble-free encoding. I''m using ruby 1.8.2, rails 1.1.2, postgresql 7.4.7 on Debian stable. The website is in English and will sell products to U.S. and Canadian customers so it needs to support special characters found in Spanish and French names. Which of these 3

On the probabilistic distribution
Dear R Community, I first apoligize to ask statistical questions of general domain, probably beyond the mere use of R. I want to analyze the following type of data with R . Total annual fisheries landings have been reported during 1950-2007 from a given fishery area. I am dealing with annual fisheries landings proportions (LP) estimated for trophic level (TL) classes of 0.1increment, i.e. each

Probabilistic aggregation
Hello, I'm a new user to R and need some help coding a mathmatically simple aggregation of normal distributions. I have three normal distributions: A ~ N(8.51, 4.24^2) B ~ N(7.57, 3.62^2) C ~ N(10.84, 6.59^2) with correlation coefficients of: rho(AB) = 0.710 rho(AC) = 0.263 rho(BC) = 0.503 and I want to simulate Z = A + B + C, showing the results on a plot and fitting a distribution to the

choosing between probabilistic and boolean prefixes for terms
Hi all, public-inbox allows searching for git blob names (e.g. "badc0ffee") in patches. Initially, I chose to use add_prefix for probabilistic terms, since I assumed it could be a superset of what boolean searching offered. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case because stemming is interfering. So switching to boolean filtering seems to work; and it is fine for mechanical

[R-pkgs] Probabilistic neural network (PNN)
Dear useRs, I am pleased to announce the release of the new package PNN. PNN implements the algorithm proposed by Specht (1990). It is written in the R statistical language. It solves a common problem in automatic learning. Knowing a set of observations described by a vector of quantitative variables, we classify them in a given number of groups. Then, the algorithm is trained with this datasets

Performance measure for probabilistic predictions
Hello, I'm using an SVM for predicting a model, but I'm most interested in the probability output. This is easy enough to calculate. My challenge is how to measure the relative performance of the SVM for different settings/parameters/etc. An AUC curve comes to mind, but I'm NOT interested in predicting true vs false. I am interested in finding the most accurate probability

?OT: Probabilistic Simulation
Sorry this may well be defined as Off Topic. I apologize in advance. I am interested in performing what I think would be a probabilistic sensitivity simulation. I've done some crude ones before in excel but I'm wondering if R can help me do it more effectively? I have a set of theoretical variables for simplicity lets use (what I think) is an easier example: I have a peg and a hole

Looking for simpler solution to probabilistic question
Hi I have two processes which take with a certain probability (p1 and p2) x number of years to complete (age1 and age2). As soon as thge first process is completed, the second one begins. I want to calculate the time it takes for the both processes to be completed. I have the following script which gives me the answer, butI think there must be a more elegant way of doing the calculations

clv/cluster - cluster id vector format
Hello everyone, I came cross a question when trying to use the cluster and clv package. For validation, offen there is a parameter named 'clust', which is an integer vector with information about cluster id. If I have my own clustering result, and I'd like to read it from a file by R, what the format it should be? Thanks a lot. -- Wei WANG [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

DVD writer problem
I have an NEC DVD-RW ND2500A (that's not the label I bought it under, but that's what it really is.) It's supposed to read/write CDs, DVDs, DVD+Rs, and DVD-Rs. I'm basically dual booting between XP and CentOS 4. Following the recipe in "The Linux Cookbook", I tried to copy a DVD using: dd if=/dev/hdd of=/tmp/diskfile.iso then cdrecord dev=/dev/hdd fs=32m

ruby on rails ecommerce tests are failing, but why?
