Nouveau kernel module exhausting CPU
Hello
I recently switched from Nvidia binary driver to Nouveau. I have encountered a possible bug in the kernel module. Before I file a bug report I would like to know if this is a known issue or not.
I believe it is related to sleep state and power management of the driver.
The Bug:
When the computer is left on it's own to go to a power save mode X takes 100% CPU-time in its thread. A

[PATCH 3/3] nouveau: add vblank methods on newer cards
Allow the software channel to be created now, since methods
for vblanking have been implemented.
The instmem flush seems to be needed on fermi to prevent a
race, but I enabled it on earlier cards too since they seem
to be susceptible to the same race.

Hi folks,
the patch in $Subject breaks booting here on one of my test boxes, see
below.
Reverting it ontop of -rc4 fixes the issue.
Thx.

Hi Boris,
There was a fixup to that patch that you'll also have to revert first
-- 7dbbdd37f2ae7dd4175ba3f86f4335c463b18403. I guess there's some
subtle difference between the old open-coded logic and the helper,
they were supposed to be identical.
Cheers,

I've bisected it to the commit in $Subject, see below. Unfortunately, it
doesn't revert cleanly so I can't really do the final test of reverting
it ontop of 5.8-rc1 to confirm that this one is really causing it.
Any ideas?

v4.8-rc2 crashes while probing nvidia graphics card on arm64
Hi,
While trying out v4.8-rc2 on Juno r2 (arm64), I ran into the following
crash when probing the nvidia graphics card attached to the PCIe
slot. So I tried rc1 and got the same crash. The card probes without any
errors on v4.7.
Anybody familiear with the recent changes knows what might have led to
the below crashlog?
Thanks,
Punit

Should I expect nouveau on 4.6 to work on a GM206?
Do you have mesa 11.2 or later? GM20x support was only added in mesa 11.2.
