HP OfficeJet Printing
There has been a bit of grumbling recently about HP printer capability in one of our smallest prototyping Labs.? We have a single GigE switch connecting a Windows 7 machine and a Dell/CentOS-6 machine.? The CentOS machine also has connectivity via another network.? Currently, only the Windows 7 machine has been setup for printing on our HP OfficeJet 8615. Our Samba effort on the CentOS system has

Trouble setting up HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer on CentOS 7 + KDE
Hi, I just installed a CentOS 7 + KDE desktop in my office's network. So far, I'm quite happy with the results, though I have some trouble getting the printer to work. All the other machines in my office (server, desktops, workstation) are running Slackware64 14.1 or 14.2, and they can all use the printer perfectly. I installed hplip-gui and ran it. The printer is a network printer, it

hplip under CentOS-5.5
Is anyone successfully using hplip under CentOS? When I try to print on my HP Officejet J4580 I always get the error ---------------------------------- Printer Filter "foomatic-rip-hplip" for printer "oj" not available: No such file or directory ---------------------------------- What I find puzzling is that I have googled for this, and it appears there has been the same

hplips
Yeah, about that... Back in '12, we got a nice HP poster printer. They don't support Linux, but a co-worker got the .ppd out of the Mac support file. I tried it, then I looked at the file in vi... and found it *only* supported the 24" printer, *not* the 44" printer that we had. Well, we just bought a replacement, since the old printer was EOL'd. This time, I went to hplips,

CentOS 5.4 x86_64 and HPLIP-3.9.12
I recently purchased a HP Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a) and it's ethernet attached. It's been configured and works perfectly from WinXP, Win Vista, Windows 7, and Fedora 11 x86_64. However, on my machine running CentOS 5.4 x86_64 I can't get the configuration to work so that it prints duplex (2-sided). The HP Setup appears to be working from the command line, but the graphic

Recent HPLIP: where's that doc?
Hi, The HPLIP package included in CentOS 5 is one of those packages that lags almost pathologically behind. Now I remember having seen some *official* (HP) documentation describing the procedure to follow to install the *latest* HPLIP on CentOS 5. As far as I can remember, there were even some RHEL5 RPMS on that site. But I can't seem to find that page anymore. Anyone remembers it? Niki

Can't add printer
I tried to add the printer: HP Color LaserJet CP4020 Series Printer? but CentOS 7 must not know what driver to use. I was able to add a brother 7050 printer (with an HP compatible driver??) Is there a way to get a driver for the hp cp4020? I googled for centos and this hp printer and looked on the hp driver site, but didn't find any info. Thanks, -wes

Issue with HP Officejet 6500 on CentOS 5.5
I just picked one of these up to replace my 4315, which broke (I think the feeder roller gear broke from an overstuffed feeder), but it's giving me problems. I had no trouble configuring it to print, but it doesn't appear in lsusb and xsane can't find it, so I can't scan with it, which is the main reason I bought it in the first place. I've tried restarting the autofs service

setting printing preference in 3.0.1 for 'HP LJ 4/4M plus'
Hi Jerry et al, I'm using the 3.0.1 release on Solaris 9 in security mode ADS. It works fine in general. But there are some problems with printer drivers. For ex the HP LJ 4/4M plus driver can not be set to 'A4' from 'letter' in the printing preferences. I use 'rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /p /t3 /n\\...' to get to the dialogue, so I'm pretty sure I try to

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

Updated 2.2.8a to 3.0.7-1 and Cups went South
Mates, On my Suse 9.0 pro installation, I updated Samba from 2.2.8a to 3.0.7. The upgrade went flawlessly, Samba is happily sharing all the files it was before. However, I can no longer print via cups. I have a HP LJ4 attached to the Linux box that worked great before the upgrade. I have 2 XP clients. Now from the Windows side, I get the printer status showing 'access denied, unable to

I noticed your comments on the samba web site about the performance issue you were experiencing with the delay in opening files. I am having similar issues when accessing files off the server, I was wondering if you ever found a resolution or cause to the problem. The strange thing is that I have two identical computers and am experiencing the issue only on one. Sincerely, Frank Damen IT

Printing issue
I'm trying to setup a print server for Samba clients to use. I have a HP LaserJet 4 connected to /dev/lp0 and I'm using the LPRng spooling package. Documents printed from Windows clients make it to the printer. However the printed documents, mostly Excel/Word documents, have various abberations on them. Graphical flaws, the text seems fine. In addition I seem to get 2 copies for some

Prints ok, but says "Access denied, unable to connect". win2k and samba 2.2.1a
I have a small Samba 2.2.1a plus Win2k workgroup. Samba is running on Redhat 7.2. There is a networked laserjet 5000 using a static IP which I can print to successfuly from the linux box, and from the win2k workstations via the queue on the linux box. The weird thing is that, on the win2k worksations, if I double click on the printer icon the status of the printer is reported as "Access

Monitoring/controlling the print spool
I crossed few similar questions in the digest and the news group, however I didn't cross the solution. I set a Linux Slackware as a samba server (16p11) with HP LJ attached to its parallel port. The server takes care of the print jobs too well; The server spool simply swallows print jobs. What should be the set up to let an MS user (95/wfw) monitor ("lpq") and control
