Weird netinstall issue
Hi. The other day I burnt a copy of a CentOS 6.4 64 bit netinstall disc, verified the disc which passed & about a third of the way through the install it informed me that there was no CD in the drive & refused to carry on. So I burnt another & the same thing happened. So using the same disk burner & the same batch of disks, I burnt a copy of a Debian 7.1 netinstall & it

Netinstall wants to use wlan0
Hi, Folks -- I'm setting up an Acer Aspire 5250 as a Christmas gift, CentOS 6 netinstall insists on trying to configure wlan0 but I'm using a wired DSL connection, consequently netinstall fails and only offers the option to Retry. How can I get it to bypass the wlan0 idea and go straight to eth0...? Thanks, -- -- Jeff -- <http://www.wellnow.com> "There's nothing

CentOS 5 netinstall problem
Hi, all. I'm attempting to install CentOS 5 via netinstall from <mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386> & it gets as far as formatting the disk but when it gets to: 'Starting install process. This may take take several minutes...' it hangs forever (well, a couple of hours). Dropping down in a console I see it's telling me: 'Preparing to install' then nothing.

netinstall problem -- corrupt alsa-utils-1.1.0-10.el6.i686.rpm?
Hello. I try to install from the netinstall iso file. Everything works as I expect up to the screen where I have to choose between "Desktop", "Minimal Desktop", "Minimal", etc. If I choose either "Desktop" or "Minimal Desktop", I have a pop up saying "Installation Starting" with "Starting installation process", and, about a

Centos 7 NetInstall: Pane is dead
Hi list, I downloaded the netinstall iso, burned it to disk, and tried to install on my old Dell PowerEdge 2900 (Intel Xeon / 8Gb ram). Machine is connected to a KVM. The Centos 6 netinstall iso worked flawlessly on this exact configuration two days ago. The first thing anaconda does after verifying the media is complain that "pane is dead" in the lower left corner. At this point,

"installation source" specification for netinstall
Trying to specify the "installation source" in the configuration of netinstall for centos 7 (7.1). Three places on the web said mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/ But that configuration page probes, then it says, "Error setting up base repository". What's the magic needed? Also, if anyone knows specs for epel and others, they might help too. Thanks.

CentOS-5.5 Live CD & netinstall
According to <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOSLiveCD5.5> "There is a "Network Install" option on the Live CD that is the same as our CentOS-5.5-i386-netinstall ISO". I've looked quite carefully at my CentOS-5.5 Live CD (on a USB stick), and I don't see a Network Install option anywhere. Could some kind soul explain where it can be found,

old hardware / minimal netinstall -> CPU fan control
I have just installed CentOS 6 i386 onto an old rack server (it's gonna be a Bacula storeage server and is a 1U 1/2 depth chassis) I did a minimum netinstall and so far so good. However, I have one problem. The CPU fan is going at full speed constantly. Not a real problem apart from (a) it will affect the fan's lifespan and (b) it's noisy. I've done some Googling and found
