Dear R experts This probably seems very easy to you guys, but I'm a beginner and would be really glad if someone helped me with this: I am trying to automate the execution of an R script (let's call it "myscript.R") by passing a variable from a bash script to myscript.R. I know I can use the command Rscript, but I don't know how to declare in bash which variable will be

get the scripname within the executed myscript.r
Dear R-users! Is there a way to obtain the name of the executed myscript.r, i.e. when cmd> rscript myscript.r is executed? (The name of the script in this case is "myscript.r") Here is the explanation of why I would like to get that: Why: I have prepared a set of scripts (decompose_data.r, plot_with_higher_resolution.r, plot_3D.r, etc.) placed in a root directory at one place. texi2dvi runs but produces no output
I am working on a Windows XP machine with R 2.10.1 and a recent installation of MiKTeX 2.8. I use LyX (www.lyx.org) to write documents and have it set up to run Sweave, Stangle, and make the PDF through R using a batch script and a MakeSweave.R file. This system worked just fine until I ran some MiKTeX updates yesterday. This is a bit embarrassing as I helped produce a "How-to" guide to

communicate from Rterm
Please, help with announcing an error from Rterm: I am calling R from an Excel VBA and noticed that if there is an error nothing conspicuous happens. I would like just a popup window when R cannot finish cleanly. The "ret " value returned from Shell is useless in determining what happened. Thank you all. ***************************** Public Sub Repo() ds = InputBox("Type in

Hi Community, I have a question about how to pass command line parameters to R script running in the batch mode. The problem is: there is a banch of data files which are to be processed by R script called from a web-server, i.e. in the batch mode. The web server generates data files and passes their names calling 'R CMD BATCH' one by one for every file. Now the question is how to

passing args to R CMD BATCH in win 2000
Hello and sorry to bother. Please help. I searched the archives but could not find out why --args is being ignored on Windows 2000. I try R CMD BATCH --slave 11.R 11.Rout --args "12" and 11.R has x=commandArgs(trail=T) print(x) a=x[length(x)] write.csv(a,file="13.out") q("no") the argument is not passed to the R process. 11.Rout only shows processing time and

commandArgs()
Apologies for asking about this, but I don't quite understand how this works after looking through the FAQ and the Help archives. Let's say I want to pass "1000" as an argument to R. I did the following: >R CMD BATCH --1000 infile outfile When I do print( commandArgs() ), I see [1] ".../R.bin" "--restore" [3] "--save"

I was surprised by this: R --interactive -e 'interactive()' bash-3.2$ R -q -e 'interactive()' --interactive > interactive() [1] FALSE > as the command options document says that --interactive should force interactive=TRUE: " When *R* is run in a terminal (via |Rterm.exe| on Windows), it assumes that it is interactive if ?stdin? is connected to a (pseudo-)terminal

Windows Batch File
Hiya, I have read the FAQ for windows and read point 2.10. I setup a dos batch file which contains the following line: C:\progra~1\R\rw2001\bin\Rterm.exe --vanilla I then tried: R CMD BATCH --argument myscript.R result.out then it started R. I thought by running R CMD BATCH executes R non-interactively. I am working on a Windows XP. I tried it on a Mac OSX and that worked fine. So I'm not

Concatenating data frames in R versus SAS
I am trying to concatenate 2 datasets that don't have exactly the same column. In SAS I did: data summary; set agency prop; run; No problem in R I get error message summary <-rbind(agency,prop) Error in match.names(clabs, names(xi)) : names do not match previous names But when I use rbin.fill, that overwrites the second file w/ first one. Is there a way to replicate the sas process
