BinaryFiles format
Hello,
after many failed attempts to correctly write BinaryFiles file
"R CMD check will warn about them unless they are listed (one filepath per
line) in a file BinaryFiles at the top level of the package." - CRAN docs
would somebody kindly provide an example of BinaryFiles file?
thank you

.Fortran successful, R locks up.
Howdy,
I am having a problem with a library compiled from some legacy fortran
code. I can call the library, it runs as it should, returns a list,
and gives a ">" prompt, but then locks up the R session. Functions
typed in return nothing. ctrl-c results in a new prompt that is still
locked up, and R overwhelms the processor. This happens on Mac,
Windows, and Linux exactly the same. I

Including .exe files in an R package
I am in the process of creating a package in R which calls
pre-compiled C code i.e. '.exe' files
In reading the manual, I came across this:
"A source package if possible should not contain binary executable
files: they are not portable, and a security risk if they are of the
appropriate architecture. R CMD check will warn about them2 unless
they are listed (one filepath per line) in

Mac libgfortran.2.dylib
Howdy,
I was under the impression that CRAN took care of automagically making
sure the CRAN compiled fortran was linked to the fortran libs
distributed in R binaries. Today was the first day I was on a mac
without Xcode and found my fortran based package has issues, which
appears only on the mac. Do we need to have a special compile library
path set in the Makefile to direct CRAN to the R

mpi.h errors on Mavericks packages
Dear mac folks,
I have started porting a large legacy toolset maintained in windows
and heavily mpi laden so it can be used across platforms in R... so I
am building a package out of it. On this note, I am noticing that
almost all of the mpi dependent packages do not compile on the CRAN
repositories.... with the basic issue that it appears it can not find
mpi installed:

distributing iconv.dll
I would like to distribute Iconv for Windows with my Rails
application (developing on a Mac, no experience with dlls). I threw
iconv.dll and charset.dll under lib without luck. Where would I need
to put them (if this is possible at all)?

PS: The reported error message is in Spanish but translated reads
something like "the specified process was not found: Init_iconv".

'R CMD build' fails when there are spaces in the path (PR#6830)
Full_Name: Byron Ellis
Version: R 1.9.0 (and 2.0.0)
OS: Linux (Redhat Fedora Core)
Submission from: (NULL) (140.247.241.197)
It appears that `R CMD build` cannot handle spaces in the path when building
packages for distribution. For instance:
[ellis@net-78815 ~/Bayesian Networks]$ R CMD build bnsl
* checking for file 'bnsl/DESCRIPTION' ... OK
* preparing 'bnsl':
* cleaning src

Help request: Parsing docx files for key words and appending to a spreadsheet
Hi Eric
Thanks for that. That seems to fix one problem (the lack of a
separator), but introduces a new one when I complete the function Calum

The whole code so far looks like this:
# Load libraries
library(tcltk)
library(tidyverse)

Hi,
the R CMD build script is using
if($WINDOWS) {
## workaround for paths in Cygwin tar
$filepath =~ s+^([A-Za-z]):+/cygdrive/\1+;
}
which does not work if the build environment is a MINGW.
I have added the patch below,

Something is wrong with the unserialize function
Hi all,
I am not able to export an ALTREP object when `gctorture` is on in the

the example below

con <- file(filePath, "wrb")
writeBin(rep(0.0,10),con)
close(con)

NIST StRD linear regression
NIST maintains a repository of Statistical Reference Datasets at
http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/strd/. I have been working through the
datasets to compare R's results to their references with the hope that
if all works well, this could become a validation package.
All the linear regression datasets give results with some degree of
accuracy except one. The NIST model includes 11 parameters,

Using variables from different environments in one function
Dear R-community,
I have been experiencing this issue with functions within a function and
I can kind of feel where the problem is (environments, closures etc),
but I don't manage to solve it.
I will sketch it with an example:
#We have two simple "inner" functions:
############## INNER FUNCTION1 #################
innerfunction1<-function()
{

dyn.load() error: bad external relocation length
R-helpers,
Is there an easy way to call an external (C) program using .C or .Call
without including the code in a package. I know how to do it using
system(), but that doesn't seem to be a permanent or portable solution.
Initially I tried:
.Call('filepath.to.c.function', arg1)
and got this error:
Error in .Call("filepath.to.c.function", "arg1", :
