Building R-2.3.1 for Windows with ATLAS
Ok, moved to R-devel. I tried to build R-2.3.1. Since I intent to distribute this tuned R to all other who have a computer like mine here at work I thought it was best to stay with the latest stable release. About your suggestion, I could'n find xerblas.o file. And I don't know how to edit libf77blas.a. I tried to open it with VIM (http://vim.sf.net/) but there was a lot of strange

New version of Rtools for Windows
Oh, I forgot to mention that besides setting AR, RANLIB and the stack probing fix, you also need a very up to date binutils. 2.25 was out in december. Even with that , if you linker's default is not what you are compiling for (i.e. a multiarch toolchain), you need to set GNUTARGET also, i.e. -m32/-m64 is not enough. Some fix to autodetect non-default targets went in after christmas before the

Building R for Windows with ATLAS
I think this is not a R-devel question. Sorry to all if I'm wrong, please let me know. I managed to build R successfully with the default BLAS but when I change the MKRULES to use ATLAS BLAS and set the path to "C:/cygwin/home/Administrador/ATLAS/lib/WinNT_ATHLONSSE2" I got the following error message (I'm posting only the final part, there was a lot of compilation before this):

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
In the file MkRules.local.in, I see the line: USE_ATLAS = NO which I believe needs to be changed to YES. But how do I specify the BLAS file *libopenblas_haswell-r0.2.20.a *and its location? Hello everyone, I'm trying to build R 2.14.0 from source on Win7 x64 using the instructions from "R Installation and Administration" (version 2.13.2), but when I try to make the core files (as of step 3.1.3 of the instructions), it fails with the following error: ... x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc -std=gnu99 -m64 -I. -I../../gnuwin32 -I../../include -DGA_DLL_BUILD -DENABLE_NLS=1 ?-O3 -Wall

Cross-compilation of R and ld bug ?
Hello list, I would like to cross-compile R packages using R 2.4.0. I am working on Linux Debian and cross-compiled (windows binaries) without problems with older R version. I have used the doc of Yan and Rossini in the contributed section of the R documentation (same version of MinGW...). When I try to cross-compile R (make R), the procedure stopped and returns :

New version of Rtools for Windows
Very timely, as this is how I got into the problem I posted about earlier; maybe some of the problems I ran into will mean more to the you and the experts on this thread, Dr. Murdoch. For reference, I run Windows 7 64bit, and I am trying to build a 64 bit version of R-3.1.2. As we discussed offline, Dr. Murdoch, I've been trying to build R using more recent tools than GCC4.6.3 prerelease.

I get the following error when building R from the subversion server as well as the latest tarball. I am on Windows XP, and I recently updated my MinGW installation. patch about mingwbuild 4.9.1
recently I used gcc 4.9.1 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/Toolchains targetting Win64/Personal Builds/mingw-builds/)on windows to build R,but failed when link R.dll ,it report linker status 5.  after some digging, I found when use gcc 4.9.1 64 bit on windows there are lots of .refptr.*(* is r function name) in R.def, which lead build fail.so I add a simple path to

Change between 86152 and 86534 - probably 86265 - that looks for zspmv in BLAS and not LAPACK causes R with OpenBLAS to fail
Executive summary: I believe revision 86265 makes it more difficult to build R with OpenBLAS on Windows as now the entire LAPACK needs to be built to obtain zspmv. Is there anything that can be done to allow the former behavior to be used, something in Mkrules.local perhaps? Detailed Explanation: I have been building R with OpenBLAS for Windows 64 for over a decade by patching

trouble building r-devel
I haven't been able to build yesterday's R-devel (or, as a test, R-devel_2005-03-11) on Windows XP. The error message I'm getting is to do with 'arithmetic.c', as shown below. Current R-patched seems to build fine, and I've built previous R-devels from source fairly often in the past-- though I have no understanding whatsoever of what's going on. FWIW the only changes
