ggplot2/plyr interaction with latest R-devel?
I apologize in advance for not having done more homework in advance,
but thought I would send this along to see if anyone else was seeing this.
I am having some sort of ggplot2/plyr/very-recent-R-devel dependency
issues.
Just installed

possible bug in packageVersion()?
Hi,
I received a bug report from a French user who told me there was
something wrong with the function packageVersion(), but
packageDescription() worked well. Below is the session info; I'm not
sure if other French users can reproduce the error message:

issues with R Library on a Server
Hello,
I am a bit over my head on this issue. My colleagues and I are running
R off of our server. We all have admin rights and prior to yesterday
we all had our own libraries. Our main system administrator advised us
that we should have a shared library. So, I am trying to do this.
I have downloaded the latest version of R and installed it on the
main drive of our server in the "Program

Wishlist: optional svn-revision number tag in package DESCRIPTION file
Hi,
just a little wish :
Could we have one (or maybe more) standardized optional tag(s)
for package DESCRIPTION files to cover svn revision info?
This would be very useful for bug reporting...
I know that any developer is already free to append corresponding lines
to DESCRIPTION files to do something of this sort --- e.g. lines like
LastChangedDate: {$LastChangedDate: 2009-03-31 $}

data.frame() args in transform()
Starting in SVN revision 47035 (which shows up in the R-2-9-0 line), transform.data.frame() started accepting arguments like 'row.names' and 'stringsAsFactors' to be passed through to the data.frame() function. It looks like this was an unintentional side-effect of letting multiple columns be added properly.
Given that this has been implemented for quite a while, should it now be

lme4 install trouble
After upgrading to R 2.6.0, I'm having trouble running lmer:
model <- lmer(primed ~ log(dist.time)*role + 1|target.utt,
data=data.utts)
Error in UseMethod("as.logical") : no applicable method for "as.logical"
So I thought I'd upgrade lme4 to the latest version, but
unfortunately the compilation fails - perhaps there's a missing

Hi Matthew,
Unfortunately, the load of that library fails (it builds successfully).
I'm currently looking into why. Error output looks something similar to:

Error with Rcmd check library --as-cran
Hello all,
I was checking the newest update of my library before submitting it to
CRAN, using R 2.15.0 and Rtools for Windows 215 using Rcmd in the Command
Prompt, on my x64 Windows7 laptop. I recently heard that for checking
packages for CRAN submission one should use the option --as-cran;
previously I was submitting packages, so I was trying that for the first
time. The check proceeds fine

enabling reproducible research & R package management & install.package.version & BiocLite
Hi,
In support of reproducible research at my Institute, I seek an approach to re-creating the R environments in which an analysis has been conducted.
By which I mean, the exact version of R and the exact version of all packages used in a particular R session.
I am seeking comments/criticism of this as a goal, and of the following outline of an approach:

suggestion to fix packageDescription() for Windows users
Recently I was trying to cite a package where the authors have ?
and ? in their names. I found that on Windows the citation() function
did not return the authors' names at all, but on Linux there was no
problem (sessionInfos at the bottom):

suggestion to fix packageDescription() for Windows users
I'd be curious to know what others think of Rich's patch. If it is acceptable, I can spend time that I was going to look at it this week on another bug.

suggestion to fix packageDescription() for Windows users
Hi Duncan,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it does seem to be specific to the CTYPE
setting to Chinese on Windows. If I set it to English using
Sys.setlocale() there is no problem, then back to Chinese and the
authors disappear:
Sys.setlocale("LC_ALL","English")
citation("readr")

suggestion to fix packageDescription() for Windows users
Hi Duncan,
I'm guessing I'll be able to look at this over the weekend/next week (probably closer to next week). It is on my list of things to do and I've just had a few other prior commitments that I have to finish first.
Sorry for the delay. I'll chime in with a status update next week.

clear console
hi,
I use R - 2.15(32bit), and want to make a code to clear a console.
Actually, I used to run following code to do that but after update the
version of R from 2.14 to 2.15, it doesn't work.
cls <- function (t) {
require(RDCOMClient)
wsh <- COMCreate("Wscript.Shell")
wsh$SendKeys("\f")
invisible(wsh)
}
cls()
or
