Dear all,
Given the following vector:

I know how to obtain all capitals or all lower case letters:

Debugging namespace problems
Hi all,
I frequently find that I've failed to export something in my NAMESPACE
and hence my package doesn't work when it's imported into another
package. Does anyone have suggestion for debugging this type of
problem? R CMD check passes without any ns related errors on both the
importee and the importer.
I've attached a reproducible example - if you install the development

gluster replicate - sync monitoring
Hi,
how do you monitor your gluster replicate ?
I use a rsync -n script, to "check" the diff between my two servers
but is there a better solution to detect split brain or any error ?
Now i'm doing something like that for my 10 "replicate tcp 2 bricks
Volumes".

R_LIBS in Windows Vista
Hello,
I am trying to install R and have it running through ESS on a Vista machine that is not mine (I am only familiar with Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux) so please pardon my unfamiliarity...
The Rgui.exe installation works fine and package installation also appears to work fine. The base packages are installed in
C:/Program Files/R/R-2.8.0/library/
and user-installed packages are installed in

problem with personal library (R_LIBS_USER) when R_LIBS is defined (patch)
As from R 2.5.0 users can install packages in their home directories, in
directory specified by the environment variable R_LIBS_USER. It's a
great feature.
But I have a problem with this feature, when R_LIBS is defined.
It works well the first time, when R creates the directory defined in
R_LIBS_USER.

./configure --prefix and R_LIBS
Hi!
I am installing R in non standard directory.
./configure --prefix=/non/standard/directory
The installation works fine.
But after starting R i get
.libPaths()
/usr/lib/R/library
but they cant be there of course!
Have I to set some additional switches during config?

setting R_LIBS
Hello,
I'm adding a private library tree in my home directory by adding this to
my ~/.Renviron:
R_LIBS="~/R/library:${R_LIBS}"
so that once in R:
R> cat(Sys.getenv("R_LIBS"), "\n")
~/R/library:/usr/local/lib/R/site-library:/usr/lib/R/site-library:/usr/lib/R/library
Is this the best way to proceed?
Cheers,

ggplot2 - regression statistics how to display on plot
Hello -
So I am trying to use ggplot2 to show a linear regression between two variables, but I want to also show the fit of the line on the graph as well.
I am using ggplot2 for other graphics in what I am working on, so even though this would be a fairly easy thing to do in Excel, I would prefer to do it in R to keep my look and feel, and I think ggplot2 is just cooler.
Here is a sample

setting the environment variable R_LIBS
Thanks to Peter Dalgaard , I have made some decent progress as far as
getting R to work in linux . I just want to set my environment variable
R_LIBS to /u/etlfs/dev/users/leedsmar/R/library ( in linux ) so that I
can install specific packages. Does anyone know the syntax and in which
file I set this variable ( .Rprofile etc ).
I've looked in the installation manual ( i'm mainly on pg 14

help("R_LIBS") brings up the wrong help file (PR#10475)
Doing
help("R_LIBS")
brings up a help file (the same one as help(library)),
but the help file doesn't mention R_LIBS.
It does have a link to .libPaths, which does document R_LIBS.
The quickest fix would be for help("R_LIBS") to bring up the .libPaths
help file.

Trouble with R CMD check: I can't seem to get dependencies right (maybe I'm using R_LIBS incorrectly?)
Hi there,
I'm in the following directory:
~/Documents/Rstuff/diceFiles/dice_1.1
The directory "dice" is in this directory, with all the usual build
files (DESCRIPTION, NAMESPACE, etc). I'm trying to run the following
command:
R CMD check dice
(where "dice" is the name of the package I'm checking), and I get the following:

R_LIBS difficulty ?
Hi, R people.
I'm shy reporting this, as a bug in this area sounds very unlikely. Did
I make my tests wrongly? I'm still flaky at all this. Let me dare
nevertheless, who knows, just in case... Please don't kill me! :-)
Not so long ago, I wrote to this list:

Debian Testing: ~/.Renviron seems to not being read (R_LIBS not set)
Hi,
I have Debian Testing running on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1
Carbon (2015, 3rd gen.). I would like to have a package library
independent of the installed R version. Under Ubuntu, I used to
have the following line in ~/.Renviron:
R_LIBS=/usr/local/R/library:/usr/lib/R/site-library This worked
fine and /usr/local/R/library showed up in .libPaths().
However, under Debian (with the same ~/.Renviron),
