Question about lda & auth_socket_path
Hi all,
storing e-mails (using postfix) via dovecot-lda fails and I assume this
is related with a auth_socket configuration problem. But I am at a dead
end, so perhaps anybody has got a hint for me:
This is dovecot-2.0.8 on Solaris 10:
10-auth.conf and its include:

userdb {
driver = static
args = uid=104 gid=104 home=/some/path/%u

Dovecot 2 + Director: IMAP+GSSAPI and LMTP-proxying
Hi all,
I have a setup of some nodes running Dovecot 2.0.13 and Postfix 2.5.6
with storage in NFS and authentication happening with PAM.
Poking around in the wiki, I tried out different possibilities but now
I am stuck -- and are hoping for your (enlightening) comments and tips.
My planned setup for IMAP and LMTP is like this:

v 1.1.13 / GSSAPI / Timeout waiting for handshake from auth server
Dear all,
I am trying to setup Dovecot with GSSAPI support. For testing purposes
gssapi is the
only method allowed for login.
As I cannot login to my mailbox, I'vo got two questions about the following
log entries:
dovecot: Info: auth-worker(default): passwd-file
/dovecot/store/db/test-userdb: Read 3 users
dovecot: Info: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=3915

Performance-Tuning
Hi,
I have > 11 TB hard used Mailstorage, saved als maildir in ext3 on HP EVA.
I always wanted to make some mesurements about several influences to the
performance (switch to ext4, switch to mdbox), but I never had enough time
to do that.
At the moment I *need* more speed, we have too much waitI/O on the system
and I already used all other performance and tuning-tricks (separated cache,

Postfix don't relay to dovecot virtual user

I run a mail server on debian squeeze system , i installed the following
software

Linux, Samba and OS X 10.2
Hi,
I have a Linux machine as Samba Fileserver, authentication through
NT PDC, lots of W2K, NT and XP clients and some MAC clients running
under OS X 10.2.
People share documents on that server and for the M$ clients, it
works.
The OS X clients can read but not write.
The error messages are directory related (permission), and sometimes
we get the statement 'disk full'. But there are

FETCH for mailbox got too little data
Using 1.1.1. Got this error message in a tight loop, using both Tbird and
Mulberry 3 as client:
FETCH for mailbox INBOX UID 32994 got too little data: 1616 vs 1649
I get this repeatedly alternating with a login line. What does this mean?
I stopped the server, zipped ~/mail/.imap/INBOX to hide it and let dovecot
recreate it, and things seem to be working again. Is there a less
destructive way

OT: Looking for a robust IMAP client
This weekend we had a runaway email endless loop. When it was killed
after 18 hours, my inbox had 135,000 messages in it...there were two
messages that were being endlessly sent and bounced and I'm on the
postmaster alias. Thunderbird was able to do a mass select of one of
the two messages, and deleted 65,000, but after that it locked up. I
ended up firing up Pine to do the final

Manual creation of machine trust and comments on Samba books
I just receive a copy of the official samba 3 howto, to be honest i'm rather disapoint with the content and layout. Well with free online version, i can't complaint, but with 'paid' version maybe i can complain to the author :-).
Most of the contents are still the old documentation with few 'little' updation for samba3. Imo, its better if it can be rewrite from scratch

Auto creating client folders on the IMAP server after installing client.
Hello, could someone help. I have installed Dovecot+SSL+TLS+Thunderbird and all is well except one thing. After installing TBird and adding the required data (smtp server and auth info, imap/pop server and auth info) I am able to view mail in my TBird Inbox BUT Trash and Sent don't work - it pops up saying folder doesn't exist on the server - can't the darn thing, auto create a folder

Keep getting this error within Squirrelmail (and other clients) on one

I've snipped the first and last message off of it, still no love.

Performance with 200k messages in Maildir
What should I expect performance-wise if I put 200000 messages in a
Maildir store and use two or three MUAs (mutt and Thunderbird), on an
Athlon dual core 2GHz with SATA drives in software RAID (Linux)?
Like; would it be useless/crawling, usable or pretty fast. I imagine MUA
startup / first time folder read would be slow, but daily use more or
less ok.
Thanks to Dovecot's indexing, I imagine

Hi,
I can't seem to get dovecot to work. When I connect with thunderbird,
tbird complains that it can't find the settings for my email. When I
connect with evolution, it seems to go through all the motions but it
doesn't pick up the waiting messages. Those messages are marked Status: O
s if it had read them.
The log file for tbird looks like this:

Using Thunderbird as local mail reader
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderbird as a local mail reader.
So far I don't see any way to configure it other than as a POP3 or IMAP mail reader,
but I get my mail locally and would like to try using Tbird to read it.
What am I overlooking?
Thanks in advance!
